      Re: tip

if your dish was aligned correctly in the first place there would be no need to use Diseqc 1.2 and just stick with usals, As Usals is software driven when ever a new satellite apears and you update your sat.xml file then Usals will find it straight away where as with 1.2 you have to manually search for every satellite. Too time consuming just to get a maybe a couple of db signal more.

I must stress i am not knocking Diseqc 1.2 at all, what i am stressing is if your dish was aligned correctly first time and fine tuned for weaker sats then there is not much difference between the two.

By the way we align for 0.8 west here in the UK because that is our closest due south satellite, in ireland you would be looking at 5w.

        Re: tip

Another good tip if your dish is correctly installed instead of buggering around with the Diseqc settings, then it's down to the position that has been entered into USALS, it's always worth altering the minutes slightly to acheive a more accurate alignment.

either way, each person has there own way of doing things, and if they happy with certain way they stick with it, just like line or port num change, remote/stick, im on diseqc at the mo, when weather picks up will try the lat/long way. but will i benefit?

If your dish is installed correctly then yes Toby. Both my boxes have been set up this way and they work absolutely fine.

In control panel, what have you got your TV type set to? I have mine set to Pal, not Auto. Those channels are broadcast in NTSC, but I find they open faster if set to Pal.

i have 22 sat positions, 45e/3ow, on some there is absolutely nothing to watch at all,
but they are always handy, its very easy to install new sat by step an save, but probably easier with usuals an live transponder no doubt.

No problem Happy camper, just remember that if any of the birds give you a weak signal just change your position slightly by even half a minute (05).

while we are on about tips,
a neighbour of mine wants a feed from me, as he not wanting dish, dish would be large 270cm in cyprus cost approx 500/600euros.
has anyone tried them splitters and any good.

Get him to buy another LNB for your dish toby quad would be nice that way he gets feed and you can get another box in bedroom. lol

euro, only asked about splitter as some time ago, had one on terresterial tv but both tvs on seemed to weakened picture quality

Splitters weaken the signal no matter what you do as I siad best bet is another LNB. You'll end up buying splitter then booster be just as cheap buying lnb m8.
