    Re: tip

most satellite users know this gadget, but to newbies a monoblock lnb is handy for the use of 2 sats, this one is for 19e an 13e, 6 degrees apart and there are others 3 degrees apart.
it is self switching from one sat to the other, ideal if you just want 2 main sats without installing a motor.

Hi Toby69 I see you said you had a Technomate gold LNB. At the moment I am using a DarkGold which was more expensive than the one you use. They both quote a 0.1 noise value. Any idea about my Lnb and would the Technomate Gold be any better for the weaker sats? I have 80 cm dish and live in Wiltshire.

      Thanks

        Re: tip

depends what you want, there has been lotta talk on lnbs, i would not waste any more £s on lnbs as a lotta people say not much difference, the best sats to go for are 23e, 19e, 16e,13e, thats my opinion only, always best for better signals is bigger dish, i have 120cm size.

Hi toby i have 120 dish and a dark motor with 0.1 lnb + spider 9000 HD.
I was told to use usals ? just set dish and motor up to Thor1 and it knows where all the other sats are. I did this and now i have good signal on 28+ sats.

Are you are useing a darkmotor happy camper? they apparantly work best with spiderbox. I have a TM motor and I have to use it on diseqc and tweak it quite often to keep max signal.

Hmmmm not so sure about this one!....... It's always been common knowledge in the world of sat's that Thor 1'W has always had the strongest signal and why installers start with this bird!

they do as that position is as near as you can possibly get to due south, only 2/10s of a degree out, nearest other sat to due south is 2east.

Yes as you full well know then, that once you have the strongest signal at 1'West if you enter the correct lat/long for your position your USALS are then set to locate all sats within your arc.

                        a/b switch

this switch enables you to receive up to 8 different sats (depending on your dish sizes) on multiple dishes with 2 diseqc switches.

drawbacks, have to move to switch a/b, and 2 cables into house.
gain, switching between sats (30west/28east) instant.

Instead of the A/B switch, you can have a relay switch connected to the 2 diseqC switches. 4 ports or 8 ports, making a total of 8 or 16 satellites.
You bring down only 1 cable.
Switching of all the satellites is automatic.
Disadvantage, you put on some weight fro resting in front of TV.

But by doing this unless you have your box set to diseqc 1.2 or 'motor', USALS will not remember what you have done as it preset in your stb!

I find the best method is to set on USALS then change to Diseqc 1.2 to fine tune and save sat positions
