    dishes

i have a dish as pictured in avatar, can anyone settle a question.
offset 270metre, or parobolic 270metre, which dish would bring in the strongest signal.
sorry if posted in wrong section

Offset 270metre, or parobolic 270metre. Are you sure?

I think that such a large antenna is not produced.
I have not seen offset dish greater than 200 cm. The central dish only.
Is my post useful for you? Please press sigpic

        Re: dishes

hi skytec, that dish in pic i got myself, it had been left at a skip for tip.
the dish is sited in cyprus and was made in ohio united states, i know that because makers plate on it.
the reason i ask which is best , an offset as you know has the lnb lower than the centre of the dish so no interuption of signal, were as parabolic has lnb positioned to centre of dish, (parabolic mainly for chns from 1 sat)

Hi off sets where not rated to better than pime focus.
But if I where you i would consentrate on the best lnb for it,
also did it come with arms for the lnb, where they off set or prime focus arms, i would go along with what are fitted on the dish, they will be a bugger to make and set up.

            Re: dishes

First of all I think what you intended to write is 270cm...having said that the best is an 'Offset' Dish because it will have the Lnb at an Offset angle and therfore it won't be in any way in the path of the incoming signal. Prime Focus Dishes having the Lnb in the centre (especially with a Feedhorn) can attenuate the incoming signal.

              Re: dishes

hi all, skytec sorry about mistake about size of dish, should have been 270cm, as the picture in attachment shows lnb lower than centre of dish hence offset, thanks for feedback all, alfred_1, i think i agree with you, fandm, dish with focal arm in picture. any more comments on what is the better dish welcome.

hi fandm, have already got tech-no-mate gold to try, thats even cheaper,
did you check the pic i sent (ref-focal arms) i honestly think that the only way to see which dish would perform best signal strengh would be to test signal strengh using a good perhaps expensive meter, or a satbox, but alinement must be spot on
