    Re: Best cheap HD receiver??

I'd recommend to choose GI 8120
    _http://www.ebay.com/itm/GI-8120-digital-Satellite-receiver-Empfanger-Full-HD-DVB-S2-Amiko-SHD-8900-Alien-/150796763673?
It's powered by linux, handles dvb s2, it's small.
In Russia that kind of box you may buy for about 120$
There are different plugins compiled for this box, like cccam and mgcamd. Works perfectly with satlover c-lines

      Re: Best cheap HD receiver??

Cracking tuner on the tm5402hd, but it's closed source so would be a non starter for me personally.
Open source enigma 2 is much more flexible and can do more with them. Great plugins, choice of images, etc.
So unless you specifically wanted a sensitive tuner for weak/fringe reception, I'd go open source.

        Re: Best cheap HD receiver??

My Spiderbox 9000HD is on its last legs (think the tuner is going as it keeps lagging on HD even FTA). So I'm really tempted to go for the Amiko SHD-8900 only £99 with lots of features found on boxes twice that price. The pic quality is also supposed to be excellent. Anyone got any experience with this box?

Not a bad looking stb for the money. Ive heard the enigma 2 side is a bit buggy though.
Also heard that some media playback is not as smooth as should be.
But if it's just for watching telly, it looks decent.

                Re: Best cheap HD receiver??

My opinion is that the best HD receiver Dreambox image quality and performance, but at the price of more expensive than many other models, so I recommend Skybox or Openbox

                  Hi,
If I didn't limit of money I agree with KVF1966,
Dreambox is the best, but I believe that today the best tuner sat must have Dvbt also, so I suggest Vu+duo or Ipbox.
                  Best regards

have you considered the spider box not a bad box with good support.
