I had stuck aluminium foil paper in my 6ft prime focus dish. After that the signal strength was increased up to 70 to almost 100 some channels from Asiasat-105.5East.The next few days, heat produced in the focal point and damaged one KU band lnb. Then I had painted on it with wood primer.Any of our member experienced this type of dish set up.Pl.see the images.

Never use a reflective surface without paint or 0ther coatings in such experiments.
Was there any signals loss after painting the surface?Comment

Re: Aluminium foil paper coated dish setup
Don't know really what you can do to to avoid the consentration of the sunrays on to the Lnb...perhaps what you can try is cutting an 8 inch hole on the aluminium foil in the exact centre (leaving the rest intact) so that there won't be any reflections onto the Lnb and in the meantime you would have the rest of the aluminium foil doing its work. Just Try.Comment

Re: Aluminium foil paper coated dish setup
You can't have both : meaning low heat and very high reflectionComment

Re: Aluminium foil paper coated dish setup
Yes they are reflected from the whole surface of the Dish but the main Focal concentration onto the lnb will be coming from the prime focus of the Dish, i.e., the center of the Dish, otherwise you can point the lnb to any part of the dish and still receive the signal, but it’s not the case. I volunteered the cutting of the center foil so that although you would still have maximum collection of signals to divert on to the lnb, the transfer of the sunrays won't be passed to the lnb. Anyway it was just a thought to experiment with.Comment
