Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 -Who Wins? Vote.

    OOOOHHHHHHHH....
    I AM VERY HAPPY .
    Excellent 4-1 result.

    Germany-England 4-1

Down and out: England's players react following Thomas Muller's goal for Germany in their 4-1 defeat in Bloemfontein .

History just refuses to leave England v Germany alone. England crashed out of the World Cup amid controversy in Bloemfontein.
Fabio Capello's team went two goals down in the first half an hour but pulled one back through Matthew Upson’s header. A minute later Frank Lampard appeared to have levelled as his shot came down off the bar and clearly crossed the line. The Uruguayan linesman failed to give the goal. Revenge for the most famous goal in World Cup history?

    Germany-England 4-1

It was a huge mistake to make in such an important game. While it is still impossible to say for sure whether Geoff Hurst’s second and England’s third had crossed the line in 1966, this was a clear goal. For Tofik Bakhramov read Mauricio Espinosa. He won't be allowed to forget that.
Germany also took vengeance for the 5-1 defeat in Munich, adding two counter-attacking goals in the second half to leave England humbled. For all the righteous English anger about the officials’ error, they were outclassed by Germany.
Capello had spent the night mulling over the decision of whether to recall Jamie Carragher, back from suspension, or retain Upson, who had played ably against Slovenia. In the end he decided to stick with his winning team and retain Upson. It was a resonant decision.
For the first half an hour England slipped effortless into their bad old habits. Gone was the intensity of the Slovenia performance and back was the timidity and ponderousness of the game against Algeria. The tempo was slow and too often they tried to hit overlyambitious passes.

    Germany-England 4-1

England were given early warning of the German threat. With just four minutes played, Mesut Ozil got in behind Ashley Cole. He had a tight angle to shoot from and tried to squeeze it between David James’s legs. The England goalkeeper managed to deflect it behind. He didn’t get so lucky next time.
Manuel Neuer, the German goalkeeper, hit a huge punt downfield and John Terry was caught out of position, too far up the field. As the ball sailed over him, Upson was slow to react and Klose pounced, getting ahead of the West Ham defender, holding him off and poking the ball beyond a hesitant James.
Ten minutes later and the German’s cut through the English defence again. Thomas Muller surged forward on the right and found Sami Khedira whose clever flick back to Muller allowed the Bayern forward to slip the ball through to Klose. James was out fast to block.
The German second was another beguiling, fluid move – or at least was made to look that way by England’s static defending. Again it came from the German right as Ozil and Klose combined to put Muller clear. He in turn passed the ball across to Podolski, sprinting forward down the left German left, and he shot underneath James and inside the far post.
Two goals down and facing a heavy defeat, England woke up. James Milner beat Jerome Boateng on the right and sent in and excellent low cross to the near post. Lampard came sprinting in and made good contact but Neuer, whether he was aware of it or not, managed to get a glove to it.
Eight minutes before the break and England pulled a goal back. Lampard went bursting forward and won a corner, took it quickly to Milner, who in turn dished off to Gerrard. The England captain curved in a fine cross which Upson met with a cushioned header past the stranded Neuer.

    Germany-England 4-1

Lampard must have wondered what he had to do. Having been denied by a superb save and the myopia of the linesman, the woodwork was next. From 30 yards he hit a dipping free kick that thumped against the bar.
England were pushing hard but could not quite find the equaliser, Boateng blocking Milner’s shot after Rooney had slipped him in.
Germany, though, killed the game with two counter-attacks that embarrassed the English defence all too easily. They just could not live with the movement of Ozil and, especially, Muller.
The German third came from a Lampard free kick which came back off the wall to Barry. He lost it to Boateng who played it to Muller, running clear. The Bayern player hit a terrific pass out to Schweinsteiger on the German left and he ran forward before cutting inside the retreating Johnson and lay the ball back into the path of Muller. He smashed his shot in at the near post, James diving out of the way.
The fourth echoed the third. The ball was cleared down the German left where Ozil had scampered off in anticipation, leaving Barry in his wake. The German playmaker had plenty of time to pick his pass and found Muller, who converted his second gleefully. This was a landmark performance from the 20 year-old.
Even as Germany chased a fifth, England’s attacking players refused to give up. Gerrard picked up on a cute Rooney lay-off, burst into the box and tried to curl the ball around Neuer. The German keeper made another fine save.

    Germany-England 4-1

While the English players were understandably angry about the injustice of Lampard’s disallowed goal, this was an impressive performance from this young Germany side. They ruthless exposed England’s weaknesses and will meet either Mexico or Argentina in Cape Town on Saturday.

England have been shocking all tournament. And the press has been full of "England can win the world cup", I don't think they have ever got it so wrong.

I reckon it's karma at work with the French. Henry cheated to get France to South Africa, karma has come and told them don't do it again.

real lesson of German to English football even though England was penalized.
besides this a real blow to the capello as one of the top coaches in the world. before he started the World Cup had extended his contract, now who knows?

Ghana for me. It would be great if an African team won it (however unlikely).

It should be ARGENTINA 1 - MEXICO 3 if it wasn't for luck!

Now that I saw how Argentina plays, I think Germany will win the world cup

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 -Who Wins? Vote.

Our hero: the Argentina bench rush to congratulate Carlos Tevez after scored a stunning goal
                      Argentina - Mexico 3-1

He may have been deprived of a reunion with his old English chums but why would Diego Maradona care two hoots? His men eased past Mexico here at Soccer City to set up their own revenge date in Cape Town this Saturday with, their conquerors on penalties at the last World Cup.
Yet while their triumph was emphatic enough, with a double from Carlos Tévez and another for Gonzalo Higuain guiding them home, they needed the impetus of a second episode to deeply embarrass Fifa within the space of six hours.

                      Argentina - Mexico 3-1

After Frank Lampard’s ghost goal fiasco, the last thing Fifa needed was the nonsense of a referee awarding an opening goal to Argentina which seconds later was being shown as clearly offside to the entire 84,000 crowd.
Mexico, understandably, protested long and loud. There were still scuffles going on around the touchline at half-time as substitutes got involved in protests. Maradona even got involved to sort it out. Yes, Maradona the peacemaker. Heck, how he’s enjoying all this.
Mexico offered skill and heart to still make a game of it at three down but though Javier Hernandez clawed one back with a brilliant effort which will warm his new employers at Old Trafford, it is Argentina who march on convincingly to meet the team they succumbed to in Munich four years ago.

                      Argentina - Mexico 3-1

England were gone and with them, the possibility of ‘Hand of God’ Mk II. As if anybody here was bothered, for here was a game which brought the most authentic taste of Latin America yet, the sight of streamers cascading on to the pitch making you quite forget the vuvuzela soundtrack.
It was a match where the Mexicans were not afraid of muttering about revenge, recalling how Argentina won this encounter at the equivalent stage in Leipzig four years ago thanks to Maxi Rodriguez’s magnificent late, late strike.
It was perhaps no coincidence then that Maradona brought the Liverpool midfielder into the fray, expecting more dynamism than from the more sedate Juan Sebastian Veron.
All the talk was of Messi, quite brilliant yet almost comically unable to finish his incredible build up work at this tournament. He started the game having had more shots on target, 11, than anybody and it wasn’t long before he had enjoyed his 12th, a wonderful weaving run from the right flank finished with a wildly hopeful chip.
Yet despite his obvious menace, it was Mexico who took the early initiative, with an astonishing 35 yarder from Carlos Salcido which ripped through Sergio Romero’s hands and crashed against the bar. Seconds later, Andres Guardado left shoot beat the keeper but curled agonisingly past the post.
When Maradona, in his pre-match comments, had claimed he hoped Javier Aguirre wouldn’t start with West Ham’s Guillermo Franco because of his aerial prowess, the Mexican manager was never going to fall for that bluff.
He did drop Franco and not before time, bringing in Manchester United’s new live wire signing Javier Hernandez, who immediately looked more threatening than the West Ham man, shooting narrowly wide when freed expertly by Giovanni Dos Santos.
The game then turned on the offside goal. Messi slid his through ball fractionally too long for Carlos Tévez, but when Oscar Perez could only bobble it back, Messi chipped it back for the Manchester City man to head home when offside by some distance.

                      Argentina - Mexico 3-1

The goal was given but as the Mexicans protested vigorously, pointing to the giant screen showing the injustice, referee Roberto Rosetti conferred with his assistants but realised, while being bullied and surrounded by practically every player, that he was not in a position to rescind an obviously incorrect decision. Quite absurd, really.
The incident seemed to knock the stuffing out of Mexico. Minutes later, Ricardo Osorio still appeared to be dreaming about the scandal as he carelessly tried to clear his own lines, allowing Gonzalo Higuain to nip in, rounded the keeper and stroke the ball home to become the outright leader in the race for the Golden Boot with his fourth goal.
Maradona evidently fancied it would be absolutely decisive. Before the game, he had disembarked from the team bus, doing a bit of musical shadow boxing.
Now, he was raising his hands as if he had just landed the knock out blow, even if he really needed the insurance policy of Higuain’s missed headed sitter from Nicolas Otamendi’s pinpoint cross just before half-time.
Instead, Tévez signed it off, with another contender for goal of the tournament, a searing 20-yard strike, after his first attempt, had been blocked, which had Maradona hugging him like a long lost son.
Mexico’s fight was commendable, though. Argentina scrambled a couple away off the line and Hernandez headed just wide, before spinning away from Demichelis and Otamendi to fire home.
Too little, too late. In the dying seconds, Messi produced another of his magical solo efforts only to be deprived by a marvellous save from Perez. There are two ways of looking at this; the little man is either jinxed or
Argentina’s future opponents are going to pay an awful price

Argentina play well, it isnt their fault what judge didnt see. Mexico was mentaly week and they stop playing well after first goal.

If Mexico just continue to play how they play before first goal they would be in quarter final.
