Hello friend.
I have a deco S12 also killed.
What firmaware you used?
For I am inexperienced in the thing and I update the firmaware with a darn, I can not say whether original or clone and then crashed.

Try to find a clone safe firmware. Search ******.
I am going to write the procedure how to recover Dead Openbox/skybox Via RS232. Hope the Mods will make it sticky. It will take me a day or two.

dear u r reciver was not origional but it was clone why it is dead by updating an origional softwear please if u r pc has serial port then connect it via 323cable if u r pc does not ve serail port then u can purchase usb to serial or if u r reciver is come under warrenty then please contact u r box dealer ve a good luck

little comment on your post:
- I presume you mean a RS232 serial cable (normally should be a nullmodemcable = crossed ; normally handshake isn't necessary)
- I had bad experiences with RS232 to usb converters: some worked, some didn't -> so if possible try to use a pc/laptop with a serial port
- if the serial port speed of the box is mentioned in the manual, it could be helpful to take the same speed (pc config pot settings)

just some tips I learned the hard way trying to recover some stuff ...

perhaps @microchick: if you find it usefull, you can add somethings of this on the procedure you're working on

The null modem cable on a S12 is not standard and hard to find follow
knap92 excellent guide to make one if you can not find one, you will have
to use clone safe firmware .

I've had the same experiences as you pan.
RS 232 to usb converters don't work with my vu+ duo.
Think a lot of receivers have trouble with them.

The best USB to serial converter I recommend is a HL-340. They are available on ebay for under £2. You can download drivers for XP, Vista and Wndows 7 32 bit only. Unfortunately they are not compatible with Win 7 64 bit.

The firmware you are using a clone safe. Sky/openbox official firmware have a timebomb and even if your Receiver is Origional it makes it a clone and the firmware expires after some time.
The only annoying thing about the Annonymousx is that the GUI is read colour, Not everyone's cup of tea.

im using the version one of anonymous is more stabieler than the version 2 ,on the version 2 the GUI is red color but not on the first version.

I think the version you are using is the Beta version. If you read the "Read Me" file included in version 2, you will know why they released Version 2 or full version after the Beta. There are some bugs in the Beta version which are fixed in the full version. But its totally depends which version works well for you.
