    Re: Which openbox?

I have S11 and a Spiderbox 7000HD and in my opinion if you want the box for just one satellite then go for the S11. On the other hand if you require a box for multiple sats then the Spiderbox or Dreambox is what you require.

i set up my second hand s9 today, it was fairly straight forward and picture quality excellent. i imagine that the s10/s11 are very similar with a few tweaks.

this is my first experience of satellite "hobbying"

Depends on your luck. Many people have reported openbox S11 to be rebooting whilest moving the motor. Its the low power to the LNB. Some of the people have suggested a power injector for it but only if you are technical geek. Please have a good read about it before you buy.

And for 3 satellites, do you think openbox s10/11 works well?

              hi

I don't see why not (found eg on s10+s11: multiple LNB-Switching control (supports DiSEqC1.0/1.1/unicable/1.2/1.3(USALS) supported). Indeed have read also about rebooting when moving motor, with fixed dish and more lnb's probably no problem

I think all you need to look into before you buy your openbox is the chip ID. If the ID is on the "good list" I doubt you'll have any problems. If it is not...reboots and ticking bomb after firmware update is very likely.

what is the chip ID good list?

the cccam works well or it as bugs/stops?

Stay well clear of the Clones of the S9/10 as you can see by the many posts of people using them as doorstops now due to flashing incorrect firmware.

I've just bought a openbox s11 the picture quality is very good, I am a noob at this to and found editing channels list a bit difficult also I've a fixed dish to the uk region and only get now and next epg so not good for timer recordings. One more thing is only 5000 channels storage so for a motorised dish this to consider too.

Openboxes are cheap enough that almost everyone can afford them. There's no need to buy a clone as both have got almost the same price. Also make sure that the sellers tells you the chip ID before purchase.
Tip: The other thing to remember to buy it from a local seller with pick up in person. Which increases the security if something happens to it so you could easily trace the seller and replace the box.

go motorised, plenty threads concerning that, you will not be disapointed,
5000 chns plenty, most boxes only support e.p.g (now an next) but some providers do show longer e.p.g

                                Definitely.
Works a charm across three or four satellites. Haven't tried it with more.

Heard that the S11 had an uprated power supply to cope with motors. Other than that there's little to no difference in the models once you've loaded up your favourite firmware.
