I've been thinking recently. The OpenBox S10(S9) are based on the Ali3602 processor. Which is the same processor as the Opticum HD X403p.

Here are the similarities
Both based on same processor Ali3602
Same/similar piece of hardware
Both are updated via the NCRCBootloader and used .ABS files to update the firmware.

So I took a look at the hex from an OpenBox S10 update and an Opticum HD X403p.

Here is the first 39 address locations of the openbox:

I am unable to copy the alpha characters at the moment - wont paste? But basically they are identical show they require the same bootloader

but the identify afterwards is different. There is space to edit or change the identify - and Im wondering if I edit the ident to match the one required by the openbox, would I be able to update my openbox with the Opricum firmware?

does anyone else have any experience with this kind of stuff?

Found out a bit more about modifying the firmware for the Chinese Openbox S9/10.

You need the 'Firmware Tool 0.3 by MST'

The .abs firmware update is a container file that can be broken down / seperated into its blocks.
These blocks are;
1. Boot Loader
2. Main Code
3. Radio Back
4. Boot Back
5. Upgrade Code
6. Default Database
7. User Database

1. Bootloader
As far as I can tell this is the loader section unique to the box, in that the box epxects is already coded to accept only a certain bootloader. Attempts to load other bootloaders result in a 'mismatch' error.

2. Main Code
This is the piece of code i am interested in taking from the opticum and injecting into the openbox.

3. Radio Back / 4. Boot Back & 5. Upgrade Code
Unknown at present - I noticed the code present in the openbox/skybox firmware but not present in the opticum firmware. Which makes me think they are not essential to the firmware upgrade process.

6. Default database
Stored in the firmware and copied over to the box during firmware update. When you press 'Restore to factory settings' in the openbox menu. This is the section that is copied over 7. User Database on the box.

7. User Database
You'll recognise this as the TP_PROG.ABS file - which contains a database of all your channels and favourites.

Going forward.
I believe my next move is to extract the blocks I wait to keep from the openbox firmware, seperately extract the blocks i am interested in from the opticum firmware and build a new firmware. Ensure the CRCs are valid and match.

Is it possible to receive card updates with s10?
Every 2 months i need to connect my clarketech 2100+ to re-activate my smartcard (canaldigitaal).
Is there a working trick to do the job with a s10?

I found out:
the cooler the place where a s10 stands, the more stabler it will run (less freezes).
I think i'm going to build in a small cooling fan...

i updated my box with that file and i keeps getting resolution mismatch! change device's resolution and i cant change the res or even the video format, and my remote is now unresponsive? any help?

Can anybody tell me what is the more stable firmware for Openbox. I don't know if I have to update or not.

I have sometimes issues with hd channel that don't appears but nothing very critical...

Openbox S10 is the same like Opticum x403p - Processor 396MHZ ALI 3602 is also in Openbox

The Chinese are selling the same receiver under different names with different software. Easier to update Openbox as OPTICUM-exactly was the plan.

This is New CCcam1 Emu For SH4 Proc
All Config on etc
Set In Auto Mode CCcam400-start File Then Reboot Your Box
Menu-Plugin file CCcam400-start put on auto mode and restart resiver.
Emulator (softcam) and klient CS (cccam.cfg)
/var/etc/cccam.prio can be removed.

could you give more details on how to upgrade the CCcam on an S9? is it at all possible to upgrade to an even higher version?

Openbox comes with a built in linux based firmware which is not an open source like Dreambox or VU+. For a CCcam upgrade you will need to upgrade the whole firmware. There are a few firmwares available with different versions of CCcam. Easy to upgrae the whole firmware at the full firmware is only 4.1mb.

I tried pretty much all the factory firmware and at the moment I am on the one released December last year, the latest one. Still can't watch channels via cccam. Mostly audio missing.
