    usually it is user: root, and pass: dm or dreambox
    when you set it to factory defaults, it should reset.

        Sadly you will have to reflash the box with a clean image, all DM images have a username as 'root' and password 'dreambox' as default if not then someone has changed this via telnet

          Similar problem here hxxp://www.satlover.eu/forum/satellite-discussion-english/45719-password-and-username-wrong.html

          im planing to do this when i get the time

          - Install and run TuxBox Commander plugin

          - Change directory to edit /var/etc/passwd (type 4: "Edit")

          - Remove the encrypted password.
          In the file /etc/passwd is the line:
          root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/sh
          or something as
          root:EIfidfjeSAEFKEOlasdf5ewr3rWEW:0:0:root:/root:/bin/sh
          The password field is the x or the encrypted string
          EIfidfjeSAEFKEOlasdf5ewr3rWEW
          Delete the x or the whole string. The line now is:
          root::0:0:root:/root:/bin/sh

          - Save the file and exit

          - Telnet to your DB with root user without password

          - Change/Create immediately a new root password with password
          try this

            Install the plugin called TuXBox Commander (or equivalent).
            It can be done via remote control (blu panel).
            It will allow you to modify file /var/etc/passwd (i.e. the file where all user passwords are stored in an encrypted format).
            You will find a line like this:
            root:***************x:0:0:root:/roo t:/bin/sh
            You have to delete the string ***************x so that new line will be
            root::0:0:root:/roo t:/bin/sh
            Reboot.

            Now your box has no password.
