i am using android 2.1 on my old zte blade and android 2.2 on my new zte blade i will see what options i have to upgrade android to a later version

Be careful with upgrading the Android system. If you are on a specific network please check with that network if it will let you upgrade? Android is gradually releasing updates for different phones. Mine has recently got ICS and now waiting for Jelly Bean. Also depends on your phone hardware if its compatable with the new Android software.

The ZTE Blade is a great phone with lots of rom support but it's hardware is weak (Arm v6; 600MHz). There is ICS and Jellybean support for it but very much leading edge from the hobbyist developers and not for everyday use at the moment.

However, I installed Viber and works fine for me (on a Blade with 2.2 loaded) so perhaps those network settings?

did the blade come pre loaded with 2.2 on it or did you load it yourself

Loaded myself from the modaco website (if you know it you'll know there's plenty to choose from on there).

Edit:
Apologies, now that I've checked its actually 2.3.4 Blademix 2.0 I'm running - but I did install Viber on a much cheaper and flimsier Huawei 880/Rapport to check and it also installed fine).

Lots of options if you look in roms & customisation. Blademix is pretty stable but there are loads of choices. Did you install 2.2 yourself?

Just a note: coldfusion and a few others are not real ICS. They are earlier versions of 2.3 made to look and behave like ICS. There's loads of info and how to's on that site though. i've lost count of the number I've tried so I'm sure you'll find something to your taste if you want to update what you've got.

And we could also give you quick instructions Here it is:

Insructions for activating Viber on iPod/iPad:

1. connect to WiFi from your iPad/iPod.
2. download and install Viber app. when asked for your number, enter your regular cellphone's number, then confirm.
3. an SMS message with the code will be sent to your regular cellular phone.
4. take that code and use it in your iPad/iPod. Viber will then be activated, and you're good to go.

* this means that if anyone dials your number on Viber, you will get the call on your iPad/iPod.

A Viber number can be registered on only 1 device simultaneously. When you try registering a second device with the same number, the first one will automatically be deactivated

In the future we plan to add an option to register with the same number on multiple devices.
