DM800 HD v Azbox HD Elite

Having got my Clone Dreambox DM 500 up and running, thanks to members and tutorials on Satlover's Forum ( big thankyou to all) . I am looking to upgrade the receiver to an HD version, for better picture quality.

Before i buy, i would like any feedback from anyone who has a Linux HD Receiver.I was considering the DM800 HD or the Azbox HD Elite.

The DM800 HD is cheaper to buy at £170, but the Azbox is £50 more.

Is it worth the extra money ????

    Any help appreciated.

Re: DM800 HD v Azbox HD Elite

First of all are you sure the DM 800 HD is cheaper then Azbox Elite? Here in Italy DM 800 HD (clones too) costs more then Azbox Elite (around 240 Euros for DM 800 clone and around 230 Euros for Azbox Elite, original DM 800 HD costs more then 400 Euros). Can be the Azbox price includes the DVB-T tuner? I think so.
Anyway are two differents boxes, with good and bad sides both.
I've an Azbox Elite so I can say to you how it works and what are good and bad sides. Good sides: best HD quality it is the only box that has a full HD resolution by HDMI output (1080p). It reads MKV files and of course all DivX files, MP3 files and photos. Also you can add inside a second tuner (DVB-T or DVB-C) It has two CI slots enclosed and generally best video quality compared to DM 800 HD. Other funcions enclosed are ******* and web browser. Easy to set up a motorized dish with Usals protocol enclosed. Now the bad sides: the software support is not the best, some firmware releases solve some problems and add new problems, the sorgent files are not public so just Telesat can develop firmware (also if a project about Enigma2 is running up but I think will need time before will be ready).
The channel list is not easy like DM 800, but not impossible. About sharing, are there cccam and many other emulators to do everything. Just the Azbox is not so popular like DM boxes so you'll need to search better to find what you need then DM receiver. I can say it is an honest product sold at right price (you need to compare it to original DM 800 HD price, Azbox is not a clone). I suggest you, if can, to watch both boxes quality before decide, also I don't know what is most important for you, if is video quality so your choice is Azbox.
    Regards.

Thanks for your input .The only thing against the Azbox is lack of support against the DM 800.

I will certainly check it out further before i buy.

The main point is support. If both boxes have same support then I go for AZ box.

If you wanna buy a clone, check the seller will give you direct service if your box will have problems. The main problem of clones is the service, because are all made in China and not all by same factory so not all clones has same quality and same post service.

Well, I know one trustworthy Chinese dealer but I cannot guarantee you that everything will go smoothly since I am not related to them in anyway but they were recommended by a lot of people. PM me if you're interested, I don't wanna advertise anything here. As far as I remember they sell it for 220usd with shipping.

Before buying, check about tuner inside. If there is good quality Tuner then you never encounter signal problem. As I know ALPS DVB-S2 is best in these boxes
