Yes I know that but all I whant to say is that 1080i is 1920x540p at the moment and in next moment is also 1920x540p only this 540p is not at same place, and it make iluzion that this is 1080p. So every frame have 1920x540p, just our eye isnt fast enought to see that diference between 1080p and 1080i. While 720p have in every frame 720p.

Well it depends also by what kind of tv you've, I've a full HD tv and I've watched some files MKV 1080p and 720p, the difference is not so big, but if you watch details you'll see the difference. Anyway the discussion was on DM clones, so I think for 400 euros an original DM box should be the best, isn't acceptable it isn't 1080p.

Never you'll have a tv with dreambox inside for a simple reason, those receivers are used mostly to do illegal things so no one of big companies like samsung, lg or panasonic wanna be involved in legal questions.
If you wanna a tv with dvb-s s/2 enclosed and hard disk port (usb) you can buy latest panasonic tv they've both things also slot for CI+ so if you'll buy a Diablo Wi Fi you can do nearly the same all you do with a dreambox.

Re: Difference Between DM800 (Original and Clone)

First linux dreambox concept was a clone of another demodulator (the external design was not the same but was inspirated of another box!). So now, they wan't to face this because they loose money. Pitty ...
The time bomb only exist in some E1 boxes, new generation boxes are protected with the sim card.
The quality of the clone is poor regarding the genuine box (put in your hand a clone and a real dm800, and you will be surprised by the difference of weight). Clone metal box is made with poor sheet metal, the DVB-S tuner has a very bad sensivity (3rd generation of clone tuner seems better), electronic component have a poor quality (look the poor IR remote signal sensitivity), temperature is higher.
It seems that the clone don't come from the factory which produce the genuine ones, some team (like sim2 and ferrari teams) have done some reverse engineering, and now several small electronic sompanies are able to produce some by themseleves. Otherwise, other models would have chinese clones since a long time (but it is not the case).
I tested several chinese dm800 clones from different manufacturers. Some details like the font in the front panel are not the same, the cover plastic (which hide the card reader) have not exactly the same shape and can't inverted from one model to another one, etc...
But anyway... regarding the price of a clone, it is a very good compromise and I am myslef very satisfied with it.

I have a DM500s clone named Soleron. Is a copy 1:1 as original ones and working hard from 4 years now with no problems.
I think to change it with a DM800HD. Can somebody tell me at which details to pay attention?

Re: Difference Between DM800 (Original and Clone)

The clones problem is just this, are made from differents China factories, so there are good and bad clones and you can't know when you buy it if comes from a good or bad factory. Otherwise I think the price of original DM800 HD is out of world, it is just an HD Sat box and you can find many HD sat boxes for less then 100 euros. Now DM are not more the only boxes able to handle a cccam so their price must be lowered.

Re: Difference Between DM800 (Original and Clone)

I agree with satman. Prices of dreamboxmodels are way to high.
I think with the competition from other receivers with same capacities and posibilities, dream multi media, will lose potential buyers.
A very good example are the vu+ duo and vu+ solo
About dreambox clones, it's always a risk to buy one, not all the models are made in the same factory, and your not sure if there will be a good service from China if you have problems with your clone.

                  regards

I suggest you to buy it from a dealer that offer you direct warranty, so if you'll have problems will not need to send your box in China.

You need also to change the Mac box address according with the original sim.

Interesting thread. I have been thinking of getting the new DM800HD SE when it is released. It has a faster processor and HDMI connector, not DVI like DM800HD.

Good comparison with pictures in first post. I have Clone 800HD. I totally confused to see that images. My power adapter looks like original just in images. My box have same bolts on rear like original in images. I just brought it last week, so I never open its cover and never see inside. Its mean Chinese now clever enough to copy as same as original.
