    HELP! DM500 freezes!

    Hey,

It's a brand new clone, less than a week old. The box is not that hot, at least when I check it its not hotter than my modem or such.

The freezing occurs when I watch a channel for a while with cccam2.1.4 and using satlover server. Sometimes the whole system freezes, sometimes just the cccam i suppose cause I can still watch FTA channel but not encrypted ones. (Even though the satlover server works fine) It looks like CCCam just stops working after a while.

It does not really matter what image I use, I tried the following images:
Two different gemini 4.70 images: One was more or less fine, still froze sometimes, the other froze like every minute, even when I was fiddling around in the menu.
PLi Jade3: More or less fine, still dies sometimes
OpenPLi nightly: So far the best but still dies from time to time.

It is impossible to watch a TV show for more than 30 mins straight cause the receiver will freeze and i had to restart it by switching it off and on with the button on its back. I really have no idea what to do. I'm starting to think I got ripped off and got a defective box. (Which I really hope I did not.)

Any tips or tricks? I'm gonna test it without CCCam, cause it might just work on FTA channels... I mean if i can watch FTA channels without system freezes then it's CCCam i guess...

    Any help appreciated!

There is a thread already devoted to freezing, check the link below. Probably not much you can do about it though.

As I said it sometimes freezes the WHOLE SYSTEM, not just CCCAM. So most likely it's not really related to cccam. I can rule out most of the points in those thread...

Try to watch a FTA channel and see if the bow will freezes too, if yes can be a problem regarding the image you use, try to change it and if the problem still can be the box hardware like Tony told.

Sorry Resident, I thought it was another newbie complaining about freezing.

Try a FTA channel and then report back if it is ok. You could also maybe try an older version of cccam as well.

Appreciate it mate No, I'm not some newbie who just complains about the picture freezing, I'm used to that and I know why that happens. Some guy told me that it might be some kind of interference. Although I have no idea what it could be, I carefully separated the power cord from the satellite cable and ran the box for a while. (Cause the powercord actually touched the sat cable. I know it's shielded and stuff... It's like a witch hunt now...) Well, it actually ran pretty well and did not even freeze. Although it was only for like half an hour. I'm gonna do some more testing tomorrow, eh... today cause it's already like 4am... and report back what happened.

                  Thanks for everyone's support.

                    Update:

I uploaded another image, this time it's EDG-Nemesis 4.4. It works utterly fine so far, I switched to cccam2.1.3 and no system freezes so far. I'm still testing it but so far the only freezes I get are the picture freezes. I really hope it's gonna work out.

                      Hi Dude

which CCcam.prio file do you use ? Have you installed one ?
If not, and if the channels you want to watch have several providers, you should probably create one. Tell us what they are, and we could help you to set a such file.
                      Kind regards

Thank you mate, I really appreciate it. It's really good to have people like you and some others on this board who are willing to help newbies. No, at the moment I am not using any prio files, i've heard they can even slow down the whole process of getting a key. It might not be true, I don't know... Right now the only channels are being watched are the ones with Hungarian audio on 1W. Mostly the sport channels, both from UPC and digitv. I'll make a list of these channels sooner or later.

Right now my only problem is, which is sure as hell hardware related that the remote SUCKS BALLS! Sorry to use these words but these are the closest one to describe what this remote is like. I cannot use it from anywhere farther than 2 meters from the receiver or it wont work. Well, sometimes it does if I i hold the remote in a certain angle. Is there any way to fix this? I saw someone putting aluminum foil in the receiver or something, dunno if that works or not... (I would bet not... but who knows...)

Any idea how to fix this?

PS.: My receiver seem to work with this nemesis image and cccam 2.1.3 so far.

                          Re: HELP! DM500 freezes!

                          Hi,
i tested several dm500 clones, and I never had the remote issue which only appears with the dm800 clone (but it is my own experience). Perhaps you can try to use another remote (a genuine one if you can), and if the problem is still there the IR LED in the receiver is probably faulty.

PS: on my Enigma1 box, I use Gemini image but PLi is a good image as well (my own opinion)
On my dm800 I use DreamElite (which is the best E2 image far away from the others)

My Box (DM500-s Clone) also has this problem. However, I have to always point the remote directly to the box, the distance does not matter (1 meter or 10 is the same).

I was told by the guy who sold me the box that Dreamboxes use InfraRed for the remote instead of Radio frequency (or the other way around) and that is why the remote is weaker than usual.

I remember reading about the aluminum thing but as far as i remember it wasn't for the DM500-s, anyway, i never tried it and the problem is not that annoying to me!

Well, I tried an universal remote so It cannot be infrared, can it? I don't know how it doesn't annoy you... You cant just lay down and change the channels without getting up or acting like Parkinsons patient... I already tried a universal remote but it didn't really work out... I think it's the receiver itself not he remote.
