      It is better to use external HDD to avoid overheating.

        For overheating you can use a HDD cooler mounted on top of the box look here :

            usually there shouldnt be a problem with the heat, because the most clone have a fan

              thankx!

              but the clone have a very bad fan an noicy

              i self disconnect the fan in the box and put a laptop fan under the box

              it is a USB fan!

              can i use a USB HDD for my DM800HD sat?

              i have a MSI Starbox SATA (USB HDD )

              my 800 box have 2 USB, i need one for HDD and one for FAN
              how van i use my SWAP file ?

              please help me to enjoy this box!

                  I have put internal hdd 500GB WD and put a extrenal USB Cooler pad (I have buy it from ebay - link ) it is only 2 usd and almot 3 month is working great, my box i cooler and i don't have problems with overheating anymore. So anyone who want a internal hdd, make sure you have external cooling solution (my solotion is very cheap and good).

                      If the cooler was so cheap you have to keep on eye on it to avoid greeping, happened to me and i was firstly thinking is a HDD fault (it was a cooler mounted directly to HDD)

                        You have right - I have bought 2 laptop cooler pads and in 3 weeks one was dead - and caused a hardware fail on my USB port. That's why on the second pad I cut off the USB connector and solded the wires to an external 5V adapter.
                        Now everything goes well...

                            I put in two quite fans and connected them to the scart socket to pins 21 and 8. Worked fine. Used hot glue to stick the fans to the inside of the lid. just leave space for the tuner.

                              I use a 320GB Samsung internal without any cooling what-so-ever and never had a problem in 2 years.
