Re: 2 satellite dish on one receiver.
Very simple:
You need a diseqc 2in1 (cost about 10 Euros). Your own cable in InputA and the cable from your neightbor in InputB. In your receiver you enable diseqc and chose Hotbird as DiseqcA and Astra as DiseqcB.
That's it... (I hope)If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans! -
Re: 2 satellite dish on one receiver.
Should not be any problems, just follow the info Satphoenix has given in his post.
I use 2 dishes,1 fixed, 1 motorized without any problems as do lots of other peeps.
You can connect the cables into the Diseqc switch at the back of the Stb if it is not convenient to do so outside.

Re: 2 satellite dish on one receiver.

Re: 2 satellite dish on one receiver.
Yes, that will do the job. Or you use a 4in1 diseqc. 2 more options for the future. Nearly the same price for it.If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!Comment

Re: 2 satellite dish on one receiver.
In my opinion get a motorized dish (quite easy) then you got allmost all signals.
Second chooise a diseq switch.
Works also fine. Did cost 20 euros here in germany.
Many people don't know but you will loose a bit of your quality with a cheap diseq switch and with a good one not.
Found it out last month trying his switch at my house and you could see a quality diffrence but it isn't on all channels.
Hope I could helpIf I helped you please press thanks button!Comment

Re: 2 satellite dish on one receiver.
you must use a twin lnb !
If you don't, you can't receive channels with different polarization (or low/high band) at the same time.Comment

Re: 2 satellite dish on one receiver.
Yes you did help but motorized dish is not an option because i also have connect on my dish via a twin lnb another neighbor receiver! what i realize today i went on the roof is that i will need another twin lnb on neighbor dish anyway or else i will have to use 2 diseq switch (from lnb to diseq switch one wire at my house and one on the neighbor receiver and the at my house another diseq switch to connect astra and hotbirt on my receiver) correct?
so is that another option? If my post was useful, please, use "Thanks" buttonComment

Re: 2 satellite dish on one receiver.
You and your neighbor need both a twin-lnb!!
A diseqc switch reduces the signal only a bit. This has normaly no effect on your signal. If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!Comment

OH we post on the same time (i had to wait 600" after another post) and you answer my question before i place it on the forum i didnt know that problem with the different polarization. after searching for twin lnb i found this one hxxp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261141502238?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p398 4.m1423.l2649 it claims that it can get signal from hotbird and astra at the same time.
so is that another option?
Twin means "two independent outputs".
Dual feed means "get two satellites".
The lnb you mentioned from ebay is a dual-feed lnb and is useless to you (if you want to use your neighbor's dish).
In my opinion you should buy:
- one simple twin lnb to fit in your neighbor's dish
- one diseqc 4 way switch.
With this setup you get the new satellite from your neighbor and have two free inputs in your diseqc switch so that you can add further feeds in the future, if you want.Comment

Re: 2 satellite dish on one receiver.
Normal switching time (as far as I know) for diseqc less then 0,5 seconds so that you don't even notice the changing of a sat.If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!Comment

Re: 2 satellite dish on one receiver.
Make sure to use a good quality cable WF100 or RG6 and also pay attention to waterproofing the new cable connections, this will insure that you and your neighbour have many hours of happy viewing.
