    Signal problem

    I have two dreambox 500HD.
I have two dishes on the roof.
I have two cables drawn from the roof into the house.

From one cable I got signal on both boxes, from both satellite dishes.
But from the No.2 cable from the roof, I dont get signal to none of the dreamboxes, regardless of what dish.
If I connect No.2 cable to another box, I get signal also there from both satellite dishes.

Why can not I get the signal from the cable No.2 to no one of the dreamboxes? I bought several different cables to make it work. 1.0mm, 1.13mm. But cant get signal. I got signal from every cable to another box but not to dreambox.

    Anyone know what's wrong?

    Re: Signal problem

Maybe the internal 12 volt don't work. If the signal work on other receivers their is a problem with the internal settings i think for the LNB

      Re: Signal problem

must be a fault with your cable or connection. Check your connections, if they are okay then I think it must be your cable.

        Re: Signal problem

It sounds to me that you might have got a nick in your cable and some moisture has got into the cable. suggest you try running a fresh cable from your dish and see if that helps.

It would be better if you explain in details if you are using any diesqc swiches, cable splitters etc. Do you use both dishes on each box at the same time? Do you split the cables for both boxes? Your question is not clear to me. Please explain the complete setup. This is not a software/firmware issue.

            Re: Signal problem

@satuatyv: Thats not the case cos he gets the signal when connects the cable to another box. Am just interested to know how he connects them before i can think of an answer.

@satuatyv: If you read jonnh post carefully. You would know that he has already mentioned this. He gets signal on another box. He just want to know why he can't get the singal from a specific cable and box at the same time. And we want to know his complaete setup before giving a suitable answer.

                Re: Signal problem

Thank you for all answer so far. Ok I will describe:

                # juekra. When I use cable no.1 from the roof I got signal on both Dreambox 500HD. So maybe there is something with internal 12 volt don't work. But then it should not work with cable no.1?

                # bokkie. Have tryed to buy 3 new cables and wont get signal from no one. first bought two cables, 1.0mm inner diameter copper and also one 1.13mm inner diameter.

#rikksow. All the three cables are absolutly new. As I said to bokkie read above. 2 different cables tryed

#microchick. I dont use any switch or cable splitter with cable no.2. And I have tryed cable no.2 to both dishes and no signal. When I use cable no.1 I got signal from both dishes, both with switch and direct in to LNB.
                Do you understand?

#satuatyv. But when I use cable no.1 in to the house I got signal from both the dishes, so cant be bad positioning then?
And when I say another box its not a dreambox. Tryed with a spiderbox Hd-box and get signal with cable no.2. But not no one of dreamboxes 500HD.

Now Explain, How do you use one cable for both dishes? There should be a switch or a cable joiner which gets both dish on one cable?

                    Re: Signal problem

Are the dishes positioned side by side?
is one of the cables a lot longer than the other or does it go past something that could cause inteference, such as an overhead electrical cable or telephone exchange?

The wires run on the same wrinkled? If so, you may have problems of interference.

                        Re: Signal problem

#microchick. No I am not using one cable for two dishes. I mean that cable nr1 works wo both dishes, not the same time. But when try use cable nr2 it wount work to any of the dish.

#bokkie. Yes the two dishes are positioned side by side.
Hm think the cable nr1 is longer than cable nr2. And cable nr2 doesnt go past anything. Just down on the roof and in through a window

#ocram88. What do you mean with The wires run on the same wrinkled?

#satuatyv. Yes correct man. But I have bought 3 new cables and will not get signal with cable nr2. I start to wonder if the cable is ok or not...

Are you using 50 Ohm or 75 Ohm cable?

                            guess a wild guess,
is it the f-connector on number 2 cable, what i mean is there enough of the centre copper wire exposed, no doubt some boxes need longer centre wire, just check see if its same as number1 cable.

I didn't consider that. I thought that jonhh might be connecting the same F connectors everytime he changes the cable. Even If the central copper wire is not long enough on one, there is a possibility that it is longer on another cable. Just a guess
