dm800 tune failed

I got a brand new dm800 clone

but I get tune failed on some channels randomly and then it randomly works again on and off, its mainly on channels with 100% SNR,

Any idea whats causing this.

update your satellites.xml file
and rescan all your channels

I think its solved now,

the problem happened when I was using an old dm800 power supply that is 3 amp (12v),

then I tried the power supply that came with the new dm800 is a 4 amp (12v), so far no problems.

i don't think its only that power supply
cos i often seen it on my own dm800 original and with original power supply

power supply didnt solve this,

its ok for hours then it comes again suddenly, it comes and goes.

now Im thinking possibly overheating?

Dm800 has overheating problems so it's advisable to install laptop fan cooler 2.5cm diameter that will do the job enough. Enigma 2 after all is a big chew for small processor especially when HD is concerned.

Tune failed on the other side is common problem of tuner that doesn't recognize channels that have changed their parameters, even slight change as Fec or small SR will slip it off the tune, so it need recalibration with rescanning !!!
Recently Sky Italy changed some of their frequencies and transponders so it needed me quite some time to get them all along again, manually of course.

This happened also to me.
First i tried several solution.
Than i realized that the cable to the dish was damaged.
I substituted it and now it seem Ok....... Or it is ok till today afternoon....

I remember always Murphy's Law is present everywhere

I have to the conclusion its a faulty tuner, because I have 2 other dm800 that works ok from the same lnb. im gonna ask for a replacement tuner from the supplier.

Rev M Tuner.

its an intermittent problem, and it affect channels on the same transponder or satellite. its on and off but only happens on a few channels on on the same transponder or satellite.

ordered a replacment tuner anyway, im 99.9% sure its a faulty tuner.

I am planning to change my L tuner to rev. M, what is your opinion ?

Rev M is the latest tuner, but there will always be some faulty ones like mines.

I change my L tuner with Rev. M yesterday. I am amazed to see it have very improved quality and boost the signal strength significantly

The problem is the Tuner I got was a EARDATEK M Tuner, this Tuner has Tune Failed problems with Astra N1 28.2E Channels.

The best Tuner for Sky UK is ALPS Rev M Tuner.
