    dm800 question

Hi all. First off i'm a total noob, so pls forgive my ignorance.
i was originally going to get a spiderbox or blade, but saw i can get a dm800se for the same price, so looked into it.
My question is, without a ci slot, how do you view viaccess cards?
Now i know it has something to do with emus ( thought they were big australian birds) and softcams etc. But this means nothing to me. How does it work?
I just want a box for viewiing from servers, i wont be sharing.
Would a more simple box be better for me based on my needs.
Why is dm so much better than a spiderbox or blade?
    any help would greatly appreciated.
    thx

You can view Viaccess cards on the built in card slots.
Just use Scam or CCcam emu.

For vewing from the server, you can enter the server detail in CCcam config file.

Ok, so the emu kind of descrambles the feed?
The viaccess actually goes in the smart card slot and the emu makes it viewable?

        Re: dm800 question

Yes, but make sure that you have the following lines in your CCcam.cfg file

        Code:
        CAMKEY: /dev/sci0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
        CAMDATA: /dev/sci0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
        or

        Code:
        CAMDATA: /dev/sci0 11 22 33 44 55 66 77 88 99 aa bb cc dd ee ff
        TRY ALL CHIDS : /dev/sciO
You can also try using the latest scam emu

I don't actually have a dm800 yet. I'm trying to learn and understand as much about it as possible, before actually buying the box.

Oh wow. Just seen a vu + duo clone on a chinese site for £180 delivered.
                    Very tempting.

That does sound good. Aren't vu clones still quite new and untested?
I've seen a couple people saying they're really good but not so sure.
