When i power on my dm500s it hangs and only the green light comes on with no display and sometimes no light comes on.is it an image problem?

Did you try to flash your dm with new image e.g. Pli jade3 ?
If you have not problem with image try other power adapter.

Yes it was the power supply repaired it yesterday, it had a burnt out capacitor.i opened the power supply because i could hear a weird sound in the supply,saw the burst capacitor 16 volts 1000uf changed it and my box is working fine.

How often do you face power cut (electricity) problem in your area?
because i had similar problem.... power adapter - off , dm - repaired

My area had high low voltage for 3 days which resulted in this happening,as the power supply is sealed i had to cut it open to repair it now i have taped it up so if i have a problem again i can easily check my power supply.

i found my old power adapter and Voltage is measured about 4,5-5V
I think that should be 12V

I will try to fix it as you did but.... how to open this box???

I used a sharp blade knife to open the supply,you will see a line around the box cut on that line,also the power supply will still give you 12v if the capacitor is burnt out but it does not give you 2 amps which is needed for the box.12v 2amps.

I have bought a new one but you now ...
a second adapter is always useful and generally I like fixing things...
Finally, I opened (cracked) the box no there is nothing to seem burnt.
I think that i can't fix it

Capacitors usually seem bloated when they are bad,sometimes they blow out,check if the top of the capacitors are flat or the top has poped up a bit.

Capacitors are ok.
Nothing is seem to blow out or smell bad
I will give it to a friend who is specific to electronics...
