Depends what you are running. Most Pc's are over spec'd resource wise, so running a VM along with a standard OS is fine. Load the box with RAM, assign half of that to the VM, along with several cores and you wouldnt know the difference. Contention of HDD would also need to be considerd.

I presume you are trying to run an OS from your work PC or something?
