...

and is this edited output.ts file readable with mplayer or vlc ?

does them ask for an (optionnal) index build ?

can you still move forward/backward directly with mplayer or vlc on those ts file ?

thx

Yes my friend :)

I have installed on my pc k-lite codes and I can play everything.
Also, I want to play .ts files directly on my vu++solo2 through the network.

I can play them with vlc and media player classic.
I have a little problem with the sound on windows media player but I think that I have wrong settings although it doesn't matter if it's working or not because I don't use it.

Btw, I installed VideoReDo TVSuite V4 and I can't open the ts files :(

I take the mesage: Unable to open file ....

Re: ts to avi converter

... okay ... all this sound promising for edited ts ...

on my side, i did some test

- on small ts with raw linux commands, like dd, and cat

- avidemux

it seems to be okay too,
i need to :
- some test on bigger ts
- check all of this on mplayer, smplayer and vlc

and switch to mencoder command with time start and duration ...

still virtualdub on windos to do ...

Re: ts to avi converter

.TS files are technically just MPEG2 files at a very specific resolution.
You can use pretty much any converter (avidemux, handbrake or even ffmpeg directly).

But the only reason to do so would be filesize. Mpeg2 files play pretty much everywhere. The only confusing part is the actual file-extension.

You can safely and freely rename them to .mpeg

Can someone tell me please, why the VideoReDo can't recognize my ts files?
I tried again and again with diferent files but always I take: Unable to open file :(

What I'm doing wrong?

I would appreciate any help.

hi kalpikos

sorry, no time to test right now (something's going on in Brasil :D)

did you try @fandm's suggestion: simply rename into .mpeg (1st take a copy ;)).

btw: have been struggling for some years now with this .ts files

Hi pan1100

Thanks for quick reply

I did the @fandm's suggestion and I renamed a .ts file to .mpeg but the result was the same with the VideoReDo : "Unable to open file"

Is there any other program that can do editing to ts files?

@kalpikos

fyi (not for editing), but some time ago I used 'Format Factory' to convert some .ts files into eg .avi. worked, but don't remember if it was fast or not.

Hi Kalpikos,

Can you upload one of the .TS files you're having trouble with, so I can test it?

Also, what receiver were they recorded on?

Re: ts to avi converter

I have the latest codecs (K-Lite Codec Mega Pack) and I don't have other problems with the videos in my PC.

My receiver that I make all the recordings is a vu+solo2 and and recorded files are shown as "MPEG-TS Video File (.ts)"

It's a little difficult to upload a ts file due to big size.
I will try later with a smaller video.
