... if it was possible,
even if not needed,

then, you can

mencoder http:://ip: port -o vid.mpg .... video audio options ...

and compress vid directly, on line,
without ts spaghetti making

@pan1100
If you don't need editing the files, you can use directly the "ConvertXtoDvd" which can handle ts files and create a dvd effortlessly.

I can't understand why you have .001, .002 ... files.
What is the size of each piece?
Did you set any limitation that divides the file into pieces of 1GB ?

Re: ts to avi converter

hi,
... But my problem starts here: for 1 movie I have about 3-4 files (1 x .ts, the others are .001, .002 and so on, and first need to be renamed into .ts files) - then I need some kind of a merger to make it 1 .ts file. ...
try this:

cat *.ts > output.ts

:D
Am I right this can be done with a merger, then needs to be converted into avi (any free S/W suggestions?)
yes, of course,
just as if you can drive the Bentley to get some bread right at the corner of the street

:D
and then edited/cutted (with virtualdub)?
this tools is simple to afford most of the basic cut,
even pic extraction ...
Oh man, what a work just to get a recorded movie on a dvd ...
then, just try it within the free open linux world
:)

... even further more:
how to merge aa.001.ts aa.002.ts aa.003.ts and compress into a mpeg, 1500kbits video resolution 96kbits audio ? with just one command line:

try this:
vrate=2200 # ~ hd
vrate=1700 # ...
vrate=1300 # ~ sd
vrate=300 # low resolution

mencoder aa*ts -o aa.mpg \
-of mpeg -mpegopts format=mpeg2:tsaf:muxrate=2000 \
-oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=96:aq=0 -srate 44100 \
-ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:vbitrate=$vrate:keyint=15:mbd=2:as pect=16/9
comment:
- -o : output file name
- -of : output file format spec
- -oac : output audio codec spec
- -ovc : output video codec spec

simple is'nt it ?

can it be simpler ?

how to simplify more over ?

enjoy
:)

hi kalpikos

yes I need to edit the files (cut the ads)
the .001, .002, ... files are created automatically (when played in the receiver there's only 1 recording, but on the pc there are more files, each one of them 1,54 Gb - I believe the fat32-format is the reason (needs to be fat32 to be recognised by the receiver))

thanks again guys, will think about it ...

edit: sorry @aplok, but that's all chinese to me :o

I was wondering if there is a way virtualdub to handle .ts files?

Is there any version that can do it?
It would be nice and we could save a lot of time.

Hi

I tried to encode my dreambox recodings (TS files) with VirtualDub, but it said file format is not supported.
How to let it accept these files?

thanks

Convert them from .ts to MPEG elementary streams by using ProjectX. As a side effect, possible errors in the stream will be corrected during this process.
And you need VirtualDunMOD, the original VirtualDub is not able to read MPEG2.

Thaks @aplok for the help.

I tried to cut a ts file with the VirtualDub Hex Editor in windows but I didn't make it.
I made the test with a small video clip but the result it was to take the same video without any cutting.

I always use videoredo.

It is not free but you can get a free trial to see how you get on.

Very easy to merge files, edit out adverts and converts very quickly.
