    Re: ts to avi converter

    hi thecrazybandit

sorry, no answer from here ... still struggling with this myself.

But, I'd like to add a question to everyone: in addition to the post above, any suggestions on a good cutter/editor (mainly to cut the ads in recorded movies) and perhaps even a good merger (my hd needs to be in fat32, and a recording is split into easily 4 different files) are very welcome.

    thanks and best regards

            Re: ts to avi converter

            Hello

I have tried many converters that are free or pay on the net with very good results in quality.

My best toll is the "Ultra Video Converter" that can make any conversion I want.

Personally, I decided to leave the TS files untouched because after the conversion the file has the same size or even is bigger, so I can't see the reason of conversion.

I leave my recordings in a HDD as TS files and I can play them with any movie player.

              hello,

how does it come from ?

what are your output settings ? ( video rate ? , audio rate ?)

with the above mentioned command, (ie video 1300kb/s, and audio 96kb/s), and for SD vid output, it turns around 850 mb for 90min (i have to check precisely ...)( 780x570 pix)

so, it should go around 3400 mb for such hd (1900x1000) mpg

i've downloaded some flv, compressed with h264 codec, 2 pass, and they are much better than mine,
this is made with h264 2 pass, requires strong cpu power and strong cpu fan too ...

I use the default settings and so far my recordings are only in SD quality.
I didn't try with HD movies, so I don't know if it is the same as about the file size.

Also, I don't use a 2 pass compression because of the minor differences in final file.

                        hi aplok

                        thanks

Not much time to test for now, but after some googling it seems virtualdub doesn't support .ts or .ts2 files. Any experience or suggestions (my sat-recordings are .ts) would be welcome ...

... should you consider to compress them ...
... just as the genuine sat signal is compressed ...

all that make me up with this suggestion for firmware geek:

add the satbox firmware with such a server
to stream directly in genuine sat mpeg
                          to a remote client

just as they do, but in ts format

I also use the virtualdub for editing my movies.

First you have to convert the ts file to avi
and then you can put it in virtualdub and make
                            any necessary cutting or editing
without further compression with the filter "null transform".

                              thanks guys

boxes are only client boxes, so no streaming and so ...

But my problem starts here: for 1 movie I have about 3-4 files (1 x .ts, the others are .001, .002 and so on, and first need to be renamed into .ts files) - then I need some kind of a merger to make it 1 .ts file.

Am I right this can be done with a merger, then needs to be converted into avi (any free S/W suggestions?) and then edited/cutted (with vertualdub)?

Oh man, what a work just to get a recorded movie on a dvd ...
