Re: How to setup router on PC with WiFi internet via PCI card?
--- No, it's brand new router, it's not password protected.
yes it is,
user: <admin>
pw: <admin>
--http://www.tp-link.com/no/article/?faqid=191
Step 2 Type the username and password in the login page. The default username and password are both admin in lowercase.
if required, there is a hidden button at the read of the tplink$
for total reset
including pw
-> check your doc
--- Now it works, but connection is slow,
or sometimes it works well,
loading pages is quick and then suddenly stops.
connection speed test:
google 'it connection speed test internet'
--http://www.speedtest.net/
--- Where could be a problem,
--- dhcp
no,as dhcp stands for dynamic local ip attribution on local dhcp ip interface
once the ip are attributed, then this is ok
--- or some other options?
options or not options ?
that is the question !
--- I'm total noob at routers.
everybody started at this level
-- How should I configure dhcp settings? This is the current setup:
try this:
dhcp server: enable
start: 192.168.1.100
end: 192.168.1.199
time: 120
gw: 192.168.1.1
as suggested by the defaults,
then
prim dns: 8.8.8.8 (from google ...)
sec dns: 208.67.222.222
Free Public DNS Server
=> Service provider: Google
Google public dns server IP address:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
=> Service provider:OpenDNS
OpenDNS free dns server list / IP address:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
look here for others:
--http://theos.in/windows-xp/free-fast-public-dns-server-list/
<--it is essential to set the fasted dns server close to your area it,fr,ge,uk...-->
<--obviously, if you live in Finland, it is total non sense to query the numerical ip address out of a server based in New Zeeland-->
<--each time you type a www .address. com, a dns query is forwarded to get the numerical 123.123.123.001 --->
<--so, speed is essential-->
---
then check your interface ip setting,
as dhcp
and not static
this way, it will be configured (ip address, maslk, gw address and dns server ip address) automatically at boot by your router
you can play with static settings,
when you gain some experience
... but not so much to gain ...
---
test the config of your interface with the command:
ifconfig
ipconfig
---
at this stage, your modem/router is reachable from the test command
ping 192.168.1.1
