    Re: windows 7 upgrade

Yeah, but I have tried windows 8 on a 1ghz processor pc with 2 gig of ram and it worked smoothly.
Even though windows 7 and 8 have got few changes win 8 loads/boots much faster also on a 5400rpm hard drive.
On windows 7 it takes 3 times longer. (my experience)

A friend who wanted win 7 on an old pc and got the "error code 5" massage did some changes on the win7 image and got them working with a different boot sector. the original image was "win 7 all in one" and that means that you have 32 and 64 edition. there is also a program called "Mobility Modder" for all those who like to play with older pc.

        Re: windows 7 upgrade

what do you mean with 'who want to play' ?
There are requirements for 32 and 64 bit.
64 bit is only for people with over 4 gb of ram memory and 32bit for under.
So if you got under 4gb memory 32 bit.
Older pc's with under 1 gb ram I wouldn't suggest to install win7 or 8 because in idle it take already 700mb and the pc's would be overloaded if you try to run it on that.

          Re: windows 7 upgrade

Mobility Modder is a tool that allows the latest ATI mobility graphic
card drivers to be updated, for some reasons ATI mobility graphic card
drivers are specific to the laptop manufactures, and the OEM drivers
          are very slow in updating.
So people with older PC's can play around with these and see if it makes
          a difference.

I have researched on google and found out that mobility modder doesn't work for all.
Many people got problems like you the crazybandit.
Many people are saying that even the graphic card isn't getting detected by mobility modder.
Has anyone got the same problem here?

yes some pc may have problems and thats why i said if someone likes to play, i mean its not a program that you install and will automatic like magic fix everything. also i like to say that a driver on win7 (or other windows) is missing and you cannot find it you can try drivers form vista or win 8 etc and they still (95%) do the job. it happen to me many times.

i think its because i am using a old graphic card radion 9200 windows 7 has no drivers for this type of card

I have searched a bit on Germany sites and found that few radeon graphic cards lost their support because they are old.
The graphiccards from nvidia are supported 95 percent. ( also the old ones.
I think there will be other programs like mobility modder.
I will search a bit and let you know then :)

Most of Vista drivers will work for Windows 7. If not then they release new drivers, Always check windows Vista drivers first before looking for other drivers.

yes the same apply with all OS, if you find a driver for XP you can still try it on win 7. the best updates are for vista and now win8 but if we are searching for an old hardware sometimes it hard to get the drivers there.

The trouble with driver genius and other program's similar to this is that try to install. What they think are the correct drivers for the graphic card and they do not always work correctly

Most often the graphics drivers will work , usually a modded inf file is all that is needed.

I also think driver genius is a waste of time, sometimes it causes more
                                problems than it solves.
The best place to get drivers is from the manufacturers of the hardware
or in case of old hardware to see if fans have modding or tweaks for the
                                hardware.
