Re: windows 7 upgrade

With those spec, you will be ok using windows 8 32 bit. You can also use windows 7 but it is not so much difference in windows 7 and windows 8 spec requirements.
Hi, i have a question.
I have this computer:
Cpu: Intel Pentium D 2Ghz
Ram: 2Gb
Gpu: Ati Raedon 5450HD
Hdd: 250GB
Is Windows 8 compatible with this computer?
Or Windows 7 is better?
Thanks
Better off with the tried and tested Win 7, with any new release there are bound to be bugs which will need to be ironed out newer always does not mean better.:D

Re: windows 7 upgrade

my experience: use the known and tested versions (also: 7)

ps @gcms: as said before (I know I know, I may be almost alone here ;)), but here on a pc still running Vista 64bit business and still pleased with it (surely not slow ).

i think are the same. windows 7 for now is the best choice. Absolutely not windows vista.
Windows 8 is compatible with your configuration.

What is your existing operating system on this computer. Instead of upgrading it to Windows 7, i would suggest to wait til windows 8 is out and then you can upgrade for less money. otherwise you will have to pay for windows 7 now and then later for windows 8.
They recommend Ultrabook for windows 8!!

Not exactly.
I have a Pentium Dual Core 2,8 Ghz.
My graphics card is an ATI AMD HD 4300 series (500 Mb dedicated).
2 Gb Ram memory.
If I install win7 my SAT TV viewer (DVBDream) doesn't got a good performance. DVBDream is optimized for Win7.
So, not ever is better win7, for me Win XP works better for my TV Sat app.
Best regards.

Windows website will always just judge the specs. The performance of computers vary with every windows. Similar specs computer will perform differently on same windows.

If Microsoft says 1Ghz, it means that its giving a chance to anyone who has a 1Ghz processor to spend some money to buy a new operating system. Its all about the marketing. MS will never tell you how the performance would like be on 1GHZ processor.

Byt acctually as far as i have tested win7, there is not problem to have win 7 on a 1 ghz computer. The processor speed is not the only component on you computer that will speed upt preformance of your computer. You have like RAM, SSD H etc...

The Hard drive speed is another factor. 7200RPM are popular ones but low price PCs always come with a 5400RPM HDD speed.
