Re: windows 7 upgrade

There is another option for you to upgrade to Windows 7 Basic. Its not a great version but it doesnt need a good specification either, your existing hardware would be more than enough for it. It will give you some idea about windows 7. If you are happy with it then upgrade to s good version at least (Home Premium) with better hardware, otherwise downgrade to Win XP.
please make dual boot u r pc by using easy BCD softwear u can also insatelled two windows on one hardisk by using different partition like xp in c drive and win 7 in d drive
If You upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, You dont need windows XP on your system because Windows 7 Ultimate comes with a built in facility called " Windows XP Environment". All you would need to do just to download about 500mb file from the Microsoft website and run in windows 7. It installs Windows XP in windows 7 on in s seperate folder. It give you the choice to rum your pc in windows xp via windows 7 without restarting your PC.
Works only on Genuine copy of Windows 7 Ultimate!

Re: windows 7 upgrade

I would simply wait untill Windows 8 is launched as Microsoft is promising to give upgrades to windows 8 Pro from Windows XP, Windows Vista and Wnidows 7 for only $40 which is less than £26. Its the cheapest ever in the Windows History.
For the time being, play with Windows 7 Basic.

Re: windows 7 upgrade

Its only the case if you have a genuine copy of Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 on your PC already. This offer will be available to people as soo as Windows launches. If you buy a PC with Windows 7 after June then the Upgrade will cost you as low as $16 which is about £10

Re: windows 7 upgrade

I think you will regret after upgrading.
Microsoft Windows died at last. Me myself will stop bothering with M$ after they will stop XP security support.
Anyway, dual boot on one drive is not good solution for you will have profiles for those xp and 7/8 in different folders, but same Program Files for both OSes.
Win 7 will create many unable to delete files/folders. Win 7 will eat all the free space on your HDD.
And.
There's opinion win7 and 8 are good OSes for dummies, they are very easy to learn how to work if you haven't use a PC before. But if you work with PC for a long time you will not like win7/8. I can't work in win7 and 8 for sure, for I don't understand why they have to ruin old interface and replace it with IT. It became uncomfortable, but it have absolutely nothing good comparing with XP.

:(

Re: windows 7 upgrade

besit is right. If you want to run windows xp environment in windows 7, You will have to install the whole programs twice. this way it eats up all the space on the hard drive.
For me Windows XP is still the best!

Make sure your connections are correct and that your power supply is able to handle the extra load.

Go into the BIOS to check if hardware is recognised if connections are correct and not recognised then may need to upgrade BIOS.
