The minimum requirements for a 23 bit windows 7 is 1GB. For 64 bit version its 2GB.
The minimum processor required is 1GHz 32 bit for Windows seven 32bit version and 1GHz 64 bit for Windows Seven 64 bit.
Graphic card Requirements: DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM driver model 1.0
(Not absolutely necessary; only required for Aero).
16 GB Free disk space for windows seven 32 bit
20 GB Free disk space for Windows seven 64 bitIf you like my post, please don't hesitate to click on "Thanks"button. Thank you

Re: windows 7 upgrade
Good luck with your upgrade.
Just remember that you can have maximum 4GB Physical Memory (RAM) in 32 bit version but you can have upto 192 GB Physical Memory (RAM) in 64 bit version.
Sometime you install 4GB in 32 bit version but its still shows 3GB.
Let us know how you get on.If you like my post, please don't hesitate to click on "Thanks"button. Thank you

Re: windows 7 upgrade
Hey, i just want to tell you that with 1GB you will not be happy of the performance as on xp. win 7 is best with at least 4GB of ram 32 or 64bit but sure it will run with 1gb but you will not be happy about it better buy some more Ram so you get the best out of it. GLComment

Re: windows 7 upgrade
In reality Locan is right. 1GB is not a lot of RAM to run any windows with it. Windows Xp is fine with it but if you really want a good experience then you need to invest in some RAM. Be advised to buy 1X4GB instead of 2X2GB. The 32 bit version might show up only 3GB even if you have 4GB installed. If you like my post, please don't hesitate to click on "Thanks"button. Thank you

Re: windows 7 upgrade
Yes, you do need more than 1gb to run windows 7 properly.
Personally I had 4gb installed in 32bit Windows 7 and I wasn't happy that only 3gb was recognised by the system.
I switched to 64bit to take advantage of the extra memory I'd bought and I'd like to say that the performance improved. I'd like to say it...but it didn't really. ;-(Comment

Yea it is really not good, i also had 4GB on my win 7 system first on 32bit and then switched to 64bit to get the rest of my ram but then i wasn't really happy about it too, but it was acceptable. Now i bought 2x 4GB so 8GB 1600Mhz ram and now i have to say my win 7 64bit is running really flawlessly now.
Also the upcoming win 8 will use more ram than 7 did so the best solution is to upgrade, Ram's nowadays are not really expensive anymore specially the Desktop rams.Comment

Re: windows 7 upgrade
Hi is it ddr1 or ddr2 but still i would definitely recommend you to upgrade your system but if you can't or want to stick with it and also you have enough space you could also do a Dual Boot so if win 7 ones get's on your nerves you can still switch to win XP :) but be carefull with this process everything will be deleted from your hard drive so be sure if you do this, to backup everything you needed. Also try to get as many informatioons as you can from google.
Here i found a good tutorial on how to make a dual boot with Win 7 & Win XP GL :)

Re: windows 7 upgrade
exactly, i thought its a ddr3 until you said its an old one but ddr1 mhh seems like its a really old system therefore its better spend the money for a newer system and the old one for xp or try Linux that helps most old pc's to come back to life ^^
(Next time would be better to post your specs ;))
But ya msaeedpp is right for win 7 and 8 better buy a new system
try to build it yourself, there you can save a lot of money ^^Comment

Re: windows 7 upgrade
What is your processor speed? Thats another inportant thing in running an operating system. Windows XP is nice and light and can run easily on a 800Mhz percessor. Only upgrading the RAM wouldn't solve the problem if its a low speed processor. Be advised to give it a try with your existing system and if you like the whole idea then buy another better specs old pc. Flea bay is better for such kind of thingsif you can find a local seller. If you like my post, please don't hesitate to click on "Thanks"button. Thank you

Re: windows 7 upgrade
That should be alrightif you are not running heavy programs on your PC. You can always give it a try with your existing hardware, If you like it then find new hardware for it otherwise downgrade back to XP as the PC is enough for XP system. If you like my post, please don't hesitate to click on "Thanks"button.
