If you going to buy just xp pro for £16.99 you might as well spend a little extra and get a refurbished system with xp pro installed starting from as little as £50 from somewhere like Amazon.:)
I am there are others selling even cheaper.:D

For those who are not aware of the news that Windows XP is completing its life cycle in 2014 and there will be no further updates or support from Microsoft. Which means that the PCs using XP fter that will be vulnerable to viruses.

True microchick but antivirus firm will still have updated software for internet security and after the deadline WinXP will become a minority platform.
Will it be worthwhile for people who make malware to bother with WinXP?
Why upgrade if you are going to be using it only in LAN or INTRANET environment for basic office related tasks.

In my own experience, Win XP is the only way to watch Sat tv with my SkyStar HD 2 pci receiver.
As I told in another post, Win 7 doesn't work fine for me and my SkyStar, because my computer is a Pentium Dual Core and so on, Win 7 doesn't give to me the performance I need for my PC.
At the moment I don't want buying a new computer, because avoid this problem, the rest performance is optimal for me. I have two hard disk partitions, one for TVSat and another for Win7, so I use Win XP lite version made by myself and I will go on with XP till I purchase I new one computer.

If my antivirus will be outdated at 2014, simply I will not use antivirus for XP and TV Sat.

Ok then I`ll purchase a new PC.

            Best regards.

No, I dont see any point of upgrading if you are a basic user of windows and not much go on the internet. But think if your pc is old enough and you want to change, it will be difficult to find another computer with better specs and windows xp. I would think that people would be forced to use other versions of IE and for that they would need upgraded java environment and that wont support XP. I think users will need so many 3rd party programs to make XP work that they will get fed up and will just upgrade.

But I think that windows xp will still run on pc after 2014 because windows xp was a windows 'legend'.
Many users are still satisfied with it and won't upgrade .
And I don't think that many people will be fed up with it.
They will just continue using it.

dont forget windows xp uses a lot less resources and disk space compared to win7 and win8. Win 8 needs 16gb of disk space just for the install.

if you need a fast car you will have a bigger fuel tank, Win8 are legal and cheap and 16gb can now be found in an sd card that cost $10!

That may be true but using your words, want to keep the car but put an
engine in which would make it run better.
There is always a minimum requirement for a new OS and if either you
don't have the money or don't want to upgrade your hardware why not
look for an OS that will run it smoother that is why the OP was looking
                      for WinXP lite.

I agree with you, i also have a pc running with win xp studiends edition im just saying that the 16gb that the win8 will take to be install cannot be a factor in our days.

                          Re: win xp sp3 lite

Windows XP belongs to the era when the PC would have maximum Hard Drive of only 40GB. Now you can't think of having a 40GB hard drive on your laptop. Most of us when think of buying a new PC they think of a minimum 750GB therefore 16Gb is nothing in comparison to 750. Although all the OS takes more or less the same time to be installed. 2/3 minutes time difference wont be any big deal to me.
