    Re: Cccam or Newcamd?

my server changed my c/line to n/line as soon as i mentioned what box i had, have heard a few times from various people that newcamd better for a bog standard box ie spiderbox, so my server must have changed for that reason.

if you have aspiderbox then yes by all means search out a server that will provide you with an Newcamd line, But if you have a linux receiver it really does not matter.
Hi digicon I do have a spider, if I find a server is it at his discretion as to wether he supplies me withCCcam or Newcamb?. What would be my advantages in getting a Linux box?Sorry for all the questions but only trying to gain more knowledge in the hobby Thanks..

              Re: Cccam or Newcamd?

Isnt a newcamd more used when supplying on individual packages, because as far as I know, the majority of CCCAM lines on the internet supply multiple packages which is probably why there is more instability.

                Re: Cccam or Newcamd?

Happy camper, If you are looking for a full European server you will struggle to find someone that supplies Newcamd, but if you are just looking for 28E you should have no problem. Most servers that supply cccam for that sat also supply Newcamb. You just have to tell them thats what you want.

                  Re: Cccam or Newcamd?

I used to use newcamd on my older box. It was pretty stable. Now when on Linux box
I have tested cccam from same server provider and can't find any differences. In my opinion stability looks like depend on server stabilitiy.

Yes because some boxes use different emulators, although most common have cccam or newcamd.

                      Re: Cccam or Newcamd?

I used both Cccam and Newcamd.
It varies, sometime cccam opens faster and somtime Newcamd opens faster.

It depends largely on how fast is the server and how good is your internet line.

                        Re: Cccam or Newcamd?

could seem like lotta factors, or could be nothing?
i have n/line an c/line, i think both are pretty good emulators, but my opinion would go back to the souce of high good your server is, a lot could be said about that, i bet if mr satlovers free clines were just allocated to say x ammount of users with own line an not on web, with local cards they would be good.

The Spiderbox,Technomate,Openbox etc... are really just starter sat receivers for people just getting into the hobby, A linux receiver say the DM800 as wellas all the others Xtrend,VU+ etc.. have far more support than any closed source box you only have to look on here and see the support for the Linux receivers and how you can modify and adapt an image to your own taste it really is endless.

totally agree digicon, i started about 7years ago, not as long as most people thou, last box i had before a 7000spider was 1500ci+, a very good box but sadly now out dated, i bought my latest box as i was a bit green how about new things were coming along i.e. encryption systems, this hobby seems to move onwards an upwards quite fast, i bought my box as i was not sure about the future an where we were going, plus the fact you know who were chucking a few chns into the deal,(shall not get into discussion about that) i got into clines about a month after getting box, i like yourself will in the future get hold of one of those dream boxes seems we really missing sommat, but if you dont mind could i ask one question to yourself, how long have you had latest box, and how long will it be before you change? might answer question here, depends how encryption status goes. toby, thanks for your time.

Linux receivers will be around for a lot longer than closed source receivers as really what you are dealing with is a mini computer inside a satellite receiver case. These really are the way forward as they can adapt use more cams than any closed source box and they will be the first on the list when any new encryption gets hacked.

I am not calling the spiderbox by any means but it' sole purpose for many people is the gift and as yourself found out you can use cccam on there as well as newcamd and it is one of the only closed source box that will let you share a card through newcamd protocol, So it is a very good box to get started in this game.

I would advise anyone new to a linux machine to first read any tutorials that are flying about how to FTP to a box use telnet commands ssh scripts and so on, You will find that most people mainly use FTP more than anything else. Once you get the hang of it you wont look back and wonder why you bothered with a spider in the first place.

dont forget there is always plenty of help when you need it on here
