Re: leave the box turned on or not

      Good Morning

If you use a D-Box2 with neutrino, its easy to cut the traffic in standby.

      edit your standby.on with

      ifconfig eth0 down
to cut the network, and the standby.off with

      ifconfig eth0 up
to connect the Network , if the box leave standby.

if you want to switch on an Fta channel, you must type in standby.on

      pzapit -n ZDF
ZDF is a FTA channel in germany.

      i hope this help.

Pretty sure on a Spiderbox (older models anyway) that on standby the connection is maintained only the video is switched off. So to totally disconnect you either need to pull the cable (or switch off wireless bridge) or switch off at the back of the box.

You are right, even in a mode standby the processor doesn't work but contents of operative memory aren't unloaded that allows to translate a receiver in operating conditions for smaller time

So the standby seems to only turn of the video but everything is running inside.
This depends on the box, but I believe most boxes just disable the video (certainly my Spiderbox does).

So to disconnect completely you'd need to pull the network cable (or in my case on the Spiderbox just disconnect the power to the wireless bridge).

My Dbox2 Nokia goes into soft stand by for 2 hours, because I put it in my menue like this. In this time just the video is disables the keys are still donwloading from the net. When after this 2 hours the box goes to deep Stand-By the keys are not transmitting any more over the net.

This is also true of the CT ET9000HD once switched into deep standby the box cannot be accessed in any way, almost like doing a complete switch off
