As already said, I still have one in one of my boxes (use it as back-up for some channels) - this box doesn't support softkeys ; so in certain cases still handy. Depends on which box you have and what languages/packages you are interested in (for english nothing interesting, that I agree).

The problem with the cheap fun-cards is that the are not so fast in RSA-Algo. The first generation of crypt-systems used algorythms that this card can calculate in time. The newer algos (if they are known) are more complex.

        hi,

I don't know what you mean with that, all (real) fun cards have the same chip (Atmel AT90S8515A). Only difference between the cards (2,4,5,6) is the size of the Eeprom.

Yes...that's what I knew me too.

But I'm not an expert about this specific kind of things and I wanted to ask for explanations, but I didn't it, thinking my message may be considered useless by moderators....
          Thanks for reopening debate!

The problem was (or is) that the atmel is not fast enough in answering an ecm-request to several original-cams. For the 4in1 or 5in1 Software you needed a patched cam but if you only had the original cam (e.g. in an dbox2) the card was to slow in the end (with special software - not 4in1).

Look for a programm called: "PonyProg"

                Alternative: "CardWriter"

You have to write the hex (OS) and the bin (keys) file.

                  hi

normally only the flash memory needs to be programmed.

                      hi

When I used to program my funcards, I only needed to program the flash (with CAS3+).
I don't know the other programmers via usb.

                        Re: What is a funcard?

You have to program the eprom with 3,57 MHz (hex-file - OS) and the flash with 6.00 MHz (bin-file - Keys).
Without the OS nothing will happen in your Box.

Indeed I use a funcard at the moment in my OSCam-server to open some french MTV channels with boxes that do not handle softcam.keys

                              Re: What is a funcard?

There are only a view channels left (listed above) using the old crypt-systems. The question is how long this is going to work. But for some receivers a fun-card can still be an alternative for an emu or cs.
Does the latest soft for funcards support autoupdate for cryptoworks?
I've lost this technic a bit out of my eyes...

Yes it's true, but (about the second ones) I'm quite sure that they will not last long...
They use S*CA old crypt-system because these are also links for terrestrial transmitters, but their hardware will be updated soon to the other system already used...
