    Re: What is a funcard?

It was a very common card that was used in many older receivers for many years ,what we called a 5 in 1 ,it could be programed to handle 5 encryptions and open many packages
used by almost everyone as it was easy to program with bin and hex files ,hence the name funcard.
More advanced encryptions killed off the funcard.

But now is a technology that still works, and now no longer able to generate programs that decrypt the card?

Which device is used to transfer the code in the card?

                hi

hope this is allowed, if not sorry + delete please!

funcard still opens some channels of RAI, ORF/Austriasat and Canalsat ; the flashmemory has to be programmed (with eg a CAS 3+) - not all boxes support them (or the encryptions)

For example, you can decript the s*y's card?

                      perhaps not?

old stuff them fun cards, all you did was reprogram, device already mentioned, patches replaced funcards as an easier way to de-crypt, and cheaper.

Boy, that brings it back, programming in hex and BBS for key changes.

I've still got a couple of home-made EEPROM programmers lying about somewhere that'll never be used again. The sad thing is that the newer, simpler system using softcams completely baffles me and I'm on a huge learning curve.

yes and kit was so expensive not long ago,
softcams not really much to see on them now,i its been mentioned.
best to move on with progress, or get left behind.
