It mostly depends on cell traffic. So you might experience variable result.
And by the way nice quote there. "If someone wonders why in godsname i want to do this, the answer is simple. Because i can "
Isn't it borrowed from Clive Owen ?

Re: cardsharing over GPRS. Is it possible?

Performed a few test using only a mobile phone tethered data connection. To see what data rate & ping times I could achieve.

      Code:
      Test#	D/L kbps	U/L kbps	Ping ms
      1	4743 409 105
      2	566 668 282
      3	2958 1203 126
      4	2157 1615 102
      5	1063 458 105
      6	1758 446 99
      7	855 301 156

      Average	2014 729 139
As you can see from the results - they vary considerably when you consider the device remained in the same location for all the tests.
the average ping time of 139ms is from what ive read acceptable for some of the europeans cards out there. However you would struggle with no picture or picture disappearance on a regular basis (7-8 seconds) on _NDS.

Based on my little test - I have come to the conclusion that CS over GPRS is viable for me - when viewing non-uk cards.

@ ecsbox - Thanx for those tests. Looks promising! But as we suspected, not good for N*S
Luckily, there are plenty of other providers/cards that do work.
What kind of cell network did you test? UMTS, 2G, 3G, 3.5G... ??

I knew i forgot something important.
All of the mobile network tests were over a HSDPA connection. (High Speed Downlink Packet Access)
Wiki for those who want further info HERE

If i can restrict my mobile device to a lower data connection without accessing HSDPA - ill retest and post the results.

Ofcourse these are only based on my location, and this may differ for other locations.

          Glad it helped

            Thanx for your test!
If you have Android device (or symbian), you can easily restrict it to 2G.

I have third this a bit but had trouble, constant glitching so gave up. Will give it another try and take some of the tips from this thread. I was getting HSDPA so did think it would be ok.

I've tried it with Desire HD and not working.

I use GPRS in RSA. Weak signal, have to use Yagi antenna. 500 S works perfectly well.

                    I run a 500S off a Huawei B660 3G wireless router. Perfect no freezes.

i think you should write which encryption are you watching (Nds, Viaccess...). Thanx
