Admin - Suggestion to protect free c-lines

I would like to suggest that you disable 'right-click' on the page listing the c-lines for server3 and server4.

This will prevent an easy copy/paste operation, and also hide the page source code.

A genuine user only needs 1 line, so typing it out is not too much work. No-one is going to manually copy 2000 lines

I know there are probably ways around this, but it may deter those who can't be bothered to look for it.

    Regards,
    Sonc

Or you could use a firewall on your server to only allow IP address from member on this forum.

Thats what i do on my server and it works like a charm

This has been discussed before. Not everybody has a static IP address, plus the overhead in managing it is huge.

You have to select the text before ctrl/c will work. I'm not a programmer, but there must also be ways to disable the left mouse button selecting text on a page?

@vidra042 Brilliant - that's exactly what I meant. Just went to that site and couldn't select or copy a single word.

There may be ways around it, but the majority of people who want to post c-lines on other sites aren't going to bother if they have to work to achieve it.

And if you know a way around it, please don't post it here.

Great suggestion Sonc I was thinking of that too, this should be implemented if it can be done it's upto the staff to decide but I am with you all the way bro. That way it will atleast if not fully decrease the amount of copy+paste from this site to another site.

Not as easy as it is at the moment

There are ways around anything, but it may deter the casual cut/paster, and limit the number of sites they get copied too.

good idea that may work 100/100 for newbie start dealing with computer but for intermediate or expert that wouldn't work because there are many way to "unlock" this protection .... but still a better solution until know !

The only way to protect the c-lines from the servers 100% is making them private c-lines.
                            That's my opinion.
Anyway i'm sure mister Satlover and his team are working on a solution (brainstorming)
They are well aware off this problem. As members we can continu to give suggestions and info to help them in the best possible way

To get around it on that site mentioned above, all you do is CTRL-A then CTRL-C. Very simple.

As long as the passwords change often, that should be enough to stop lines on other forums from working. The added advantage of that is that people will come directly here, increasing traffic to satlover.

I think things are fine at the moment, as long as the passwords change often.

                              Tony.
