    clines by satellite

To avoid overload could be interesting to have many clines... every one with a satellite.

For example people who have only astra 19.2 could take just the appropriate cline with 25 cards, and not have the other (useless) 375 cards.

I guess it would be more smart and light, speed improved and fewer freezes.

( the full server would be only for the motorized dishes, means 10% of the people around here)

    Would it make much difference?

It really depends on what causes the freezes, if it's an overloaded card, the card will still be overloaded by separating it from the main list of cards (the numbers accessing it will not change).

Has anyone done any research into this at all?

I don't think this would result in less load on the server, I believe that the CCcam protocol -in a way- already implements this by selecting the appropriate cards for the channels you're watching (this is done regardless of the satellite you're on).

What I mean is that when a client logs into the server, it receives information about all cards and their associated provider ID's. Now, when the client switches to an encrypted channel, the CCcam emu on your box will only request the keys from the appropriate cards on the server one at a time, i.e., it won't overwhelm or broadcast to all cards at once. If one card fails, the next card is tried an so on.

NewCamd Server is using this approach, single port per single service.
It is useless from the bandwidth perspective, the amount of packets remains the same.
From the server's perspective it becomes expensive in terms of configuration and time/power consuming.

I think it would be a hard work to sort it.
For me it woulb be interesting to have an cccam.prio file only for astra (and the others ignored) or a preline (after the server) for the cccam.cfg for one sattelite?

I think what he said only works if you separate those cards from the server and make a new server with them... but most people who has astra probably has hotbird too...
