    changing root password

    hello,

    can anyone tell me how to change the root password? the standart password is vu for user root. I would like to change it.

    Run cmd in Windows, then enter telnet and dreambox IP
    Logon with your username and password
    Enter passwd
    Enter your new password twice

      Just in case you are using windows 7 or above: Note that telnet is not enabled by default. So you should enable it as follows:
      1) Open the control panel
      2) Click Uninstall programs and features
      3) Turn Windows Features on or off
      4) Scroldown and tick to enable telnet client
      5) click ok
      7) Open cmd
      8) Type telnet and press enter
      9) type "open ip address of the vu box" then press enter
      10) Them follow the instructions as per above post

          Hello

          I would like to add that you can use also the DCC or better the VCC.

          Both of them have telnet and the changing of the pass can be done very quickly and safely.

          Type; passwd <Enter>
          New password: <type your new passwd> <Enter>
          Re-enter new password: <type your new passwd ones more> <Enter>
