To enable authentication go to Plugins (Greeen Panel):

Green ---> OpenWebif ---> Enable Http Authentication ---> Yes

Username/password = root/<vu uno password>

password should be the same as the stb password used in dcc, dreamboxedit, etc.
You can change password with telnet. Use command:
passwd and press enter
type the new password, press enter
type it again and press enter.
that's it.
Always a good idea to change password from default.
