this image has been compiled with the newest linux kernel available for our boxes.

warning: this image uses a new filesystem and it is not compatible with multiboot or with old personal backup.
this image has to be installed in the flash.

warning: starting from this release, for best performances and to maximize the available flash space the web browser plugin
is not included in the images for solo duo and uno. if you need web browser plugin you can easily install it by going to:
menu -> setup -> software managment ->manage extensions -> network -> webbrowser

the most commonly used usb tuner drivers are now included in this image and are auto_detected.(hauppauge win nova, aver volar, aver a867 ecc..)
this means that you can boot the image with the usb tuner inside and it will be immediately available and working.
for this reason the usb dtt panel has been removed, because it is no longer needed.
more drivers will be available soon.

the wireless management has been changed to use the vuplus proprietary system plugin and wpa supplicant have been updated
to the latest version.

the hdmi-cec panel has been removed because black hole firmware has switched to native vuplus hdmi-cec implementation.
so you can now find hdmi-cec config in the plugins list.

this image is totally new inside.
please report your tests and opinions.

Black Hole Vu+ Uno 1.7.0 Multiboot Full Backup

There are 2 big news items in this Black Hole release.
- Meoboot Version 1.0
- Full Backup utility
1) Meoboot version 1.0 is a NEW VERSION entirely recoded for kernel 3.1.1 images.
This version of Meoboot is 50% faster than the old version and only compatible with images that share the new kernel 3.1.1.
As you know the new kernel 3.1.1 based images have a new filesystem (Ubifs).
Meoboot can extract a Ubifs filesystem and install a full image in about 4 minutes on Vu+ boxes and is much faster than old versions at startup.
WARNING: THERE IS AN IMPORTANT CHANGE IN MEOBOOT 1.0: This version of Meoboot accepts images in USB.zip format and NOT in NFI format. This is because images in USB format are easier to find and much more readily available.
WARNING2: This version of Meoboot accepts only 3.1.1 kernel based images.
2) New Full Backup Utility.
This new Black Hole utility will complete the Black Hole tools. You can find it in the main menu. The Black Hole Full Backup will allow you to backup all your images in the original USB.zip format. This means that after you make a backup you can restore it in it's entirety, you flash your set top box with your own backup.
This new feature is based on the original script of Pedro_Newbie.

the last vu+ Black hole is the 1.7.2 it is very stable. it has also the new tuner server to share tuners. it is important to have the last version of the kernel before to update otherwise it will not startup correctly. eventough you can always update the kernel and reapply the firmware update.

The Black Hole 1.7.2 is the most "stable" and fast version of 3.1.1 releases.

Note on Multiple Partitioning:

The "Usb Format Wizard" of Black Hole 1.7.5 will allow you to partition and format your
usb sticks from 1 to 4 different partitions.
You can for example create 3 partitions in your usb stick and then mount them in 3 different mountpoints in device manager (i.e usb, universes, cf)

Note on Universes setup:

By clicking ok you will now access the Universe Configuration menu (Black Hole home doesn't need a config)
You will have 3 options:

Universe access protected
Universe access pin
Force reboot in Black hole.

Setting the first option to Yes, will mean that the Universe will be protected with a pin
If you do not set a pin the default pin will be 0000
Setting force reboot in Black Hole means the image will not boot into this Universe (useful for a pin protected universe, to be sure that nobody can access it, if you forgot to switch to another dimension before you poweroff).
Note: the Universes pin and config are reset by a big bang

Note on Multiple UPnP servers.
Black Hole 1.7.5 include 2 different Dlna Servers:

Mediatomb
Minidlna

- Mediatomb allows you to stream between two different boxes and take advantage of the BH Tuner/Server feature, but it is not compatible with many devices and the project is no longer updated.
- Minidlna is more upto date and compatible with many devices and most modern tv's. Use it if you want to connect from your tv or other devices to your box to share your media contents.

Warning: you cannot use old Universes on the new image version.

What is HBBTV?
HBBTV is a pan-European specification for interactive TV applications with its roll-out in Germany, France and more countries are now following. HBBTV has been developed in order to fulfil the needs of seeking ways to deliver interactive services through a single web-based user interface. All working fine on mine including the hbbtv only tried some on 19.2� east but it is confirmed working, I also had a Green screen at first but finally found out it was due to a channel list that had been installed.

I had a Green screen when use in DreamDroid, So that explain why channel list!

The firmware is the FPGA upgrade for the tuner you can either download via the FPGA plugin on blackhole or get it directly from VU's website and install from USB or FTP it to /tmp folder and install from there
