Looking to buy a VU+ box but was wanting to know if its necessary to buy top of the range or are the cheaper ones as good? i do understand that the more expensive ones have more frills but not that bothered just something reliable,

    Hi alfie395

I believe that your choice should be according to your budget.

If you can spend a lot of money, buy a vu+solo2 but if your budget is limited then it's better to go for a vu++zero.

I think that you shouldn't go for a vu++duo2 or a vu+4k because you have to spend more money for something that you don't really need.

As about the vu++zero , of course there is a big difference in the abilities between the others, but a new user wouldn't see this difference.

Even a vu+zerro is ok for wathcing HD or SD channels without problems by adding your c-lines.
It's an enigma2 box, very reliable with good support.

Also can handle powervu channels (with patched oscam powervu version).

    I hope helped you

The Vu Zero is a single satellite tuner receiver but an use an external Cable USB tuner, my advice forget the Vu Zero the Edision OS mini has a single satellite and a single cable tuner on board and is the same price as the Vu Zero.

And it is far better value for money than the VU+

I have a vu+ solo 2 and haven't had any problems at all. If you just need the 1 cable and 1 satellite tuner the vu+ zero with a usb tuner would be a good choice.

In your original post you quoted

The Vu Solo2 is a twin satellite receiver and does not come with any type of cable tuner. It's a fantastic receiver for satellite and you can add a Cable USB Tuner but then that adds around £50-£60 to the cost.

If money is no Object then get the Vu Solo 4K with a dual Cable tuner installed gives you twin satellite and twin cable tuners for around £450

I own one and you will not find a better machine for the money

Thanks for letting me know that but unfortunately money is an object, i just assumed it was cable and sat Doh!
i will compare the cost of a vu+ solo 2 with a cable tuner and the 4K receiver i just dont want to end up spending a fortune and ending up with something that over complicated?

Re: VU+ which one is the best value for money

The Vu Solo2 priced standalone is around £209 + Tuner another £49

The Vu Solo4K around £379 + Tuner card Single _ Tuner card £49 for a single or £65 for the Dual tuner card

The Edision OS Mini i spoke about has a single satellite tuner and a single cable tuner enough for most needs and only costs £99

                  Please, do me a favur

I would like to know some additional info about Edision OS Mini, because its price sounds very good

                  Is it a good receiver?
                  Is it reliable?
                  What about support?

Compared with vu+zero, which of them is the winner?

Re: VU+ which one is the best value for money

I would say the Edision OS Mini is slightly better doe to the fact if you need Wi-Fi to connect to your router then the Edision has it built in, They are also very quick to update driver problems for there receivers unlike Vu+.

Vu+ has just one more image team on its side and that is Blackhole so if you like Blackhole image then you have to purchase a Vu+ if your happy with OpenPLI or any of the other OE alliance images then the Edision is better, They also include Blindscan drivers for the tuner on edision if you need it.

Build Quality wise the Edision is also better as the Zero is just a Plastic case the Edision is all metal and feels better quality in your hand.

                    Regards
