    Fan Control 2– best settings

    Hello

I’m using the FanControl2 plugin on my vu+solo2 in order to control the fan and to keep my box cool.
These hot days during the summer, I noticed that the temperature is increasing significant and many times is over the 40 C.

So, I was start to thinking if the settings that I already have are correct or not.

    Here are my settings:

    - fan type: 4 pin
    - fan off in idle mode: no
    - min Speed rpm: 600/1500
    - max Speed rpm: 5000/6000
    - Static temp C: 37/50
    - End Temperature C: 47/55
    - Initial Voltage: 255/255
    - Initial PWM: 130/255

Obviously, the fan is too little and can’t cool enough my box,
but I would like to be sure if my settings are right or not before to add a bigger fan over my box.

    What do you think?
    Are my settings right?
Is there anything that I can do with the settings in order to improve the temperature?

    hello,

< try to monitor the temp >

i think the topic is to keep it cool enough

device params are in /dev ... acpi ,

with acpi stands for Advanced Configuration and Power Interface

so try to locate them with

    find /dev -name '*acpi*'

next, as i can not do it with a satbox like yours,
here is an example from my pc, about the battery :

    find /proc/acpi/battery -type f |while read aa; do echo --- $aa; cat $aa; done

hence, for a temp probe, try something similar as :

    find /proc/acpi/temperature -type f |while read aa; do echo --- $aa; cat $aa; done

    find /proc/acpi/cpu -type f |while read aa; do echo --- $aa; cat $aa; done

      Hello again

Which is the safest temperature in order my receiver to work smoothly?

It's ok for my box to be at 40-41°C or is it a bit dangerous?

Which is the max temperature that I have to avoid to reach?

        Hello kalpikos,

I think that 40-41°C is acceptable but don't let your receiver to go above that temperature. The max temperature you should avoid is 50°C so don't go above that.

Re: Fan Control 2– best settings

          Hi

I'm back in this thread because I'm little anxious about the temperatures of my box and how them cam influid the life expectancy.

I was thinking to use an external 120cm fan over the box for better temperatures and of course longer life.

The problem I have is that I don't know how to connect it in order to avoid working continuously.

I was also thinking to connect it in a usb port or with an external power adapter.

But how to make it working only when the receiver is functioning?
or working for a small time and then to stop?

            hello

            recipy #1

            1. just get out of here such an electric heater ( the cheapest is the best) like

            __http://www.chauffage-aterno.com/medias/radiateur-electrique-soufflant-300x265.jpg

            2. open gently it to get out the thermostat ( this is supposed to be easy as it is the cheapest hardware )

            3. install the thermo regulation in your satbox

            4. install the 250 mm fan in front of the Fukushimette

            5. adjust the temperture level with the thermostat

            ... and be happy

            recipy #2

            1. install a linux/gnu deamon

            2. with config file in /etc/myfuku, with temperature set point

            3. which send a signal via tcpip to such a I2C remote device

            4. connected to your lan which relay the fan on.off status (order by the temp deamon)

            ( i2c: __http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%C2%B2C )

            recipy #3

            1. ask a cooperative Christmas Turkey to cope this hot issue ...

            enjoy it anyway ...
