    Tune fail message

Just started to get the occasional random 'Tune fail' message. On startup the default channel is displayed correctly, however when changing channel I may see the 'Tune fail' error. After 5 to 10 minutes the problem goes away and the picture clears. This occurs on FTA as well as encrypted channels on both fixed and moveable dishes on either inputs. So don't think its LNB related.
Current software is Openvix 4 1 004. This problem did occur before installing the latest Openvix so don't think its image related.

    The satellite receiver is VU+Duo.

Anyone else had this problem and knows how to fix please?

    Thanks

      Re: Tune fail message

      Hi

I also have a similar problem, but as skytec said above... I have many Diseqc, so it's normal because it's needed some seconds in order the command to go from receiver to diseqc and then to lnb.

Our friend, said above about fixed and movable dishes, so I think that it's normal.

This sounds like a receiver problem especially with the Vu Duo and the problems they had with changing Caps on the main board and PSU

          Thanks for the replies.

I do use DiSEqC but it now fails even on a fixed disk swapped from another single receiver. Where as before if left for some minutes it would recover, now it doesn't.
Checked the voltages on the PSU and around the two tuners, all as should be.

So now looking for a suitable alternative.

          Cheers

            Re: Tune fail message

            I think it's a DiseqC problem.

If you have available another DiseqC test it in your installation to see what is happening.

Also you can test your receiver by connecting it directly with an lnb.
If it fails again, then it's a receiver problem.

              Re: Tune fail message

I have also a separate fixed dish and have connected its LNB (working 100% with an old Humax Free Sat PVR) to the VU+Duo LNB 1 with no DiseqC set at all. Still Tune fail message.

When selecting a channel on my movable dish, the dish moves to which ever satellite it is programmed to.

I measured the voltage at both F connectors expecting to see a reading near 13/18v however only a few milli volts shown.

I'm convinced its a receiver problem. The VU has given sterling service but is quite old - bought when it first came out.

So try to check capacitors in power supply.
