help with line

I have just set a new vu+duo with blackhole 2.02 and when I try to add the line from my parents f3 box (mgcamd) it will not work in the box but if I put mine or my brothers they both work ok.
can anybody help please.

You should give us more details about your line (c-line or N-line) and the cam you use on your box (cccam or mgcamd).

Because you say that the line from your parents is mgcamd, I accept that is a CWS line for use in mgcamd.

First of all I would like to suggest you to flash your with a newer image because is a rather old.
It's better to install an openpli image that is more friendly to use and also has it's own server that give you the ability to install all you need.

In case that you don't want to flash your box, you can install tspanel (find it in this forum), and with the help of this application to download the right version of mgcamd.
Remember to uninstall any other older version you have of mgcamd before installing the new.
After the install, add your cws line in newcamd.list by the help of any ftp manager (I prefer DCC) and finally make a reboot.
Select the mgcamd as the default cam of your box and you should be ok.

They are all for using with mgcamd that is what is throwing me out Ive been using a vu duo for a while now and have swapped my line a couple of times.
I loaded my parents with the same image because I'm used to it or so I thought
I'm swapping the info in the line using Dcc via ftp and it just fails to pick up
I've now added the to my brothers f5s box and again it works ok on that just not the vu duo Mgcamd 1.38 is installed

How are you entering the line on your vu+ duo, is it CWS =?
Also ensure that you have the cam active and you have your configs correctly set up.

In the software via dcc there is a example in the keys section I'm editing this to accept the line and adding it to the right places as I said it works with both mine and my brothers perfect but not with this one of my parents.The only difference between the lines is my parents has longer user names etc so more letters and numbers but that's all, I know the line works because its now working in my brothers F5s box via mgcamd

First, you have to find if the mgcamd works ok.
In case that there is problem, you must unistall it and install other version.
Take a test line and test it in order to be sure that all is ok.

Second, You have to be sure that you enter the line correctly.
A CWS line should be in usr/keys/newcamd.list
You have to edit the newcamd.list and add the followings lines:

CWS_KEEPALIVE = 300
CWS_INCOMING_PORT = 21000
CWS = myfriend.dyndns.com 15000 myname mypass 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 lan server1

in case of a sigle line or as CWS_MULTIPLE in case of multi-line :

CWS_KEEPALIVE = 300
CWS_INCOMING_PORT = 21000
CWS_MULTIPLE = myfriend.dyndns.com 12000:22000 myname mypass 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 lan server1

This is how I've been adding it as you have shown what's strange is if I put mine in or my brothers in it works perfect, if I put my parents one in it does not work, I know the line is working because I can put it in either a skybox f3 or a f5s and it works straight away this is what is throwing me

are you 100% sure you entered the line correctly? check capslock and eg underscore or other characters.

Maybe the line has a security lock from the server in order to works only with one receiver with a dedicated mac address.

If you are sure that you don't make any mistake in spelling when you put the line, then ask your server for details to explain you why this happens.

Did you give mg_cfg file 755 permission also is it setup for newcamd and also in my case removing the dvbapi file also helped because that was set for german cards.

Also,
you can check what value has the G in mg_cfg.
If you use only CWS line, set: G: { 01 }

If you're not sure about the values in mg_cfg, you can post it here in order to give you some help by editing it.

Thanks for all the replies
I have checked that I have spelt it correct several times I have even copied and pasted the original line sent.
security :- I contacted the supplier and asked this as I was setting the initial box at my house and he stated I was ok as long as it was only a short period for testing. still did not work. plus I'm able to move it to my brothers house on his f5s box and works fine.
I will now look at the following when I find where they are. (mg_cfg file 755 permission also is it setup for newcamd and also in my case removing the dvbapi file)
Again many thanks to all for your time.

Checked out my box and the mg_cfg file is set to 777 so I assume my parents is set the same will try and change it later to 755.How do I check the permission is it setup for newcamd and where do I locate the following file dvbapi

Are you sure that the mgcamd is working?
Did you test it with other line?

If you can't find a solution to your problem, I suggest you to flash your box with a new image more friendly, as the OpenPli.
Then go to downloads from the OpenPli server and install a new version of mgcamd.

Yes it does work with others lines Ive tried mine and my brothers so I know the box and image is working ok
Plus the line that does not work in the vu duo box works well in a skybox f3 and f5s via mgcamd
