    Re: duo 2

My thoughts on the box its overpriced at £449 for a satellite receiver, It has a few extra gimmicks that make it slightly better than the Solo2 but certainly not £150 worth.

Buyers must realise that when you purchase something that has just come on the market that your a guinea pig for the next 6-12 months while they iron out all the bugs in software and drivers.

If your thinking of buying leave it a few months until it becomes established

      Re: duo 2

if you do not need more than one tuners then solo2 i think remains primary choice and you also save a serious amount of money instead of buying duo2.

of course this does not mean duo2 is not a top class box.

        Re: duo 2

I think the u.k. release was delayed due to the new remotes, but should be shipped out soon.
I'm holding off on purchasing a duo2 for a bit, but will probably be getting one before the year is out.
The improved transcoding is what interests me most, as I often use this feature on my solo2 to catch the game on the go.

          hi, i read this

          __http://linux-tv.com/receiver/vu-duo-review/

          and give you this abstract:

          [font="courier new"]
Vu + Duo is a really interesting Linux box,...

The Vu + Duo seems fast and stable, ...
The Vu + Duo has a lot to offer and potential to do much more when you add plugins of which there are plenty.

Picture quality is not great out of the box
but can be tweaked by using the Video Enhancement Plugin.

Looks like some of the u.k. sat shops have the duo2 in stock now.
Very tempted, but think I'll give it a few months.

@bokkie leave it a good few months and this will drop in price similar to what happened with the Ultimo i paid £530 for one on release day and within 6 months the price had dropped to £399 and then £349.

This will More than likely happen with the Duo2 when they realise that most of the EU is still in recession and sales figures are not quite as good as they hoped.

              Regards

                Re: duo 2

The question is: will it be able to handle XBMC? A lot of potencial to E2 only?

No XBMC on the Duo2 that has been confirmed and probably why Vu's sister company Marysus is concentrating on the Prismcube with XBMC as its main operating system

Here are the requirements for running XBMC:

1.6 What is current recommended hardware requirements for XBMC

For end-users the recommended minimum requirement is an x86-based computer, with a 3D GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) that at least supports Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0 (that features 24bpp or 32bpp for 3D hardware-acceleration support, which the XBMC GUI needs to run smoothly at an acceptable frame-rate). Graphic adapters that support DirectX version 9.0c or later usually meet all of those mentioned requirements, (Team-XBMC recommends NVIDIA GeForce 6150 or later as NVIDIA are currently the manufacturer that offers good device-drivers for Linux (and NVIDIA GeForce 6150 or later supports OpenGL 2.0).
