    Vu+ DUO is randomly rebooting

Some help needed here my Vu+ DUO is randomly rebooting it has a sticker on it with http://www.vuplushd.tv on it so is a clone.

I have reflashed to original bh image and drivers that it came with and still have this random rebooting 90% of the time i have to reflash to get the box working.

Same problem no matter what image I try, it may work for days with no bother or sometimes restarts straight away.

I don't want this to be a clone vs original thread so please don't even start that.

    Cheers

Sounds like a psu problem to me, which is a very common occurrence with clone duo's.
Unplug and Open the stb and check all connections are fully pushed home. Sometimes they arrive from china with loose connections.

Bokkie, yeah took it apart this morning to check, back up and running now for how long is anyones guess. I figured it may be the psu so will have a look around see if i can get one in the uk and if the problem continues will sell the psu and ebay the box as spares.

I bought a replacement psu from mixeshop, think it was about £30 all in.
Took about a 3 or 4 days to get here.

PSU usual problem is that it can't drive the dish, It can't lift up the dish from west to east or may be east to west too. I have also heard that you need to have tuned in to a Horizontal polarity channel which is 18 V to lift up the dih to East.

Re: Vu+ DUO is randomly rebooting

I had a version 1 clone first which wouldn't drive my motor properly, so I got a version 2 replacement from the supplier.
This wouldn't drive my motor properly either, so I bought a psu from mixeshop to see if that would sort it, which it didn't.
In the process a psu blew, which also fried my 1tb hard drive, so I wasn't a happy chap.
I more or less just leave my dish on 13e now as It takes a few restarts and messing about to get the motor moving.
Can't wait to get a new stb, either the gigablue quad or one of the new vu+ range when they are released.

Re: Vu+ DUO is randomly rebooting

Little update been running constant since taking it apart, while it was apart I reversed the fan so that it is now sucking air in rather than pushing it out and seems stable. Will let this run 24/7 over the next week and see how it goes.

Bookie thanks for explanation much appreciated, im on fixed dishes here so not pulling much power just a laptop 500gb hd and usb mem card installed.

                Cheers Guys

I think that for fixed dish setup, clones are pretty good vfm.
As soon as you try to use them on a motorised setup, they just don't cut it.

Ok a few days have passed and this morning while watching tv the signal died, tried the box in the m8s house same thing no signal. Box now going to the bin.

Time to get a new box thats not a clone. Lesson learnt.

                    Thanks all for the help.
