It is possible but you'll need a fast upload speed.
I tried with a dyndns account and my 2 meg upload wasn't fast enough.
I could view the bouquet but when I tried to stream, it just kept buffering.
I reckon 5 or 6 meg should do sd.

      Re: How to stream

I would like to see a guide on how to stream from the vu, my line is fast enough so no problems there.

Every time I see this asked people go on about line speeds and that is not the question being asked. The guide would be useful in the near future as line speeds increase.

        Re: How to stream

Open a dyndns account. dyndns pro allow a 14 day trial. If you cancel before the 14 days they let you keep 1 dyndns address as a gift. you should then have a dyndns address such as yourname.homelinux.com

In your vu+ duo open webinterface plugin and set http port. default is 80 but it is recommended to change this. lets say you change it to 1222 for our purpose.
Enable http authentification for extra security and set a username and password.

You then need to go into your broadband router settings and port forward your chosen http port, 1222, so it knows where to forward the traffic.
Normally access your router settings by entering 192.168.0.1 in your web browser.
You should then have a port forwarding option in your settings.

Once this is done in the remote pc, enter your dyndns address with the http port at the end. Don't forget the : before the port number. It'll look like this.
        yourname.homelinux.com:1222

Then enter your username and password you chose in openweb interface .

You should then be able to access your openweb interface and control your stb.

        Hope this helps.

@zypheruk I was offering help to the op. If he doesn't have a fast upload there is no point in even wasting our time which is why I said that first.

            Re: How to stream

24 meg upload should be more than enough.
If you need help for port forwarding just google your router make and model.
            Different routers have different settings.
let us know how you get on.

            Oh and don't forget.
if you open a dyndns pro account and then cancel for your free address, you must access the account once every 30 days otherwise they might cancel it.

                        Re: How to stream

Your network I.p. is something like 192.168.0.9. Your full I.p. is totally different. Google it and you'll get some results.

There is two type of ip adressess. When you talk to the internet you are recognized with what we call "public IP". This is you WAN ip and is directly connected to your home network. The ip adresse 192.168.X.X is what we call for private ip adresse you use locally on your network. Only your router have the wan ip all the clients(reciever,pc,smartphone or any other device that have connection to internet will recieve a local ip from you router dhcp. If you go to google and type my ip and go to the first hit you will then go to an page which will tell you what your public iP is. So whenever you want to reach to your home network from outside your home(work, cafe,) you will have to write your public ip in the adress bar. Google and lear, if you still need help feel free to tell you question here:)
