    vu duo clone.

    Hi all
I was going to buy a receiver next week, had it down to blade 7000, spiderbox or dm800hd.
I was leaning towards the blade until i saw a vu duo clone from china for about £185 delivered.
    Twin tuner, for that price!
So basically, unless i can be convinced otherwise, i'll be getting the vu duo clone next week.
I will need a lot of help getting it going. Has anyone out there got one?
    whar do you think?
    thx

    Re: vu duo clone.

Hi mate I am expecting one to arrive today but I decided to go for an original for £319.00 delivered mainly for the warranty etc. If you have used a linux box before it should be easy to set up, if not ask on here.

Go for the Clone without a shadow of doubt, it is hard to tell the difference from an original they are that good.

Thx. My problem is support. I'll need lots of it, as this will be my first step into the world if satellite, beyond sky of course.
I'm pretty sure there's no tutorials out there for the clone, is there ?

That's the conclusion I came to and I believe that their are a few bad Dreambox clones about. But I agree plenty of support for a DM clone.

I kinda like the twin tuner though.
Very reasonable price for twin tuner

nml, if i was just starting up i thing i would buy more expensive box, it all depends what you want, ive ad spider for just over year now but dont seem to learn much more, could anyone inform myself that if i bought a dream, or other would that improve the glitch probs. only people with this kinda box would know.

                  Re: vu duo clone.

toby 69 I will let you know in a few days when I have had a chance to test on the VU. But I have tried it on an old DM500s that I dug out of the cupboard as opposed to my Spiderbox and to me things did improve.
I have had Linux boxes since the first DM came out (700s) and have always loved to experiment with them but their is a lot to learn.
Can't wait for it to arrive.

                  Regards, nml

                    Re: vu duo clone.

The reason i went off spiderbox is due to the reported glitching/freezing problems.
the gift would be handy though.

                      Re: vu duo clone.

Ok lets sort this out once and for all, I own both a Clone DM800se and a Clone VU+ Duo been testing this for the last 2 weeks on different configurations.

First off the build quality on the Vu is a lot better than my 800se which is from the same supplier and the last one i got is only 2 months old.

Ok lets get down to it. On a clone 800se you have to Use a Clone image or flash a patched bootloader first then an original image, I have tried the Latter and it works although it is best to stick to Clone images.

The Clone Duo does not need clone images at all in runs on official images the only patched source is the IC security update which is similar to a Loader this only needs to be done once and the latest Loader lets you use old official images and the newer Kernel 3.1.1 images from any group so thats one up on the 800se.

The tuner sensitivity on the Duo is marginally better than whats on the 800se, Now the downfall if your tuner blows on the SE then you just get another as its Plug & Play. The 2 tuners on the Duo are soldered to the board.

You dont need any guides for Vu Duo clones as its the same procedure as flashing an original via a USB drive with the 800se its done over the network.

Now another plus for the Duo if you load the wrong image file to it no problem it does not brick it, all you have to do is load an older image file and update the loader to run any new images, with the 800se you load the wrong image you brick it which means you have to get hold of the patched dreamup a usb cable and network cable and follow the procedure to unbrick it. Again one up for the Duo.

lastly Price difference around £155 for 800se or around £185 for clone Duo.

To me for £30 its a no brainer, most of teh people i deal with and any new customers who ask i would be advising a Duo if they need a twin tuner or an 800se for single.

If your in the market for a twin tuner the Clone Duo is hard to beat, even if you dont need the 2nd feed at least its there for the future.

                      They really are that good.

                        Re: vu duo clone.

So it looks like vu duo all the way.
So all i have to do is follow a regular tutorial for a duo?
I read that the image must be a 2011 image, is that correct?
                        reckon i'm sold.
role on payday so i can buy it!

Once you get the Duo its probably on the old loader so yes will only allow images from 2011, But around 5 days ago ferrari team have released a new loader which allows you to use all new images from 2012 and old ones as well.

Bokkie when you get the box send me a pm and i will send you all the links you need for the software and instructions, Your a member on a few other forums i am also a member of so contact me through any of them or here.
