Is the Humax 5400 still usable these days?

    Hi,

Is the Humax 5400 still usable these days or not?

In the past I use the 5400 (without Z) and have much fun with it in the past with FUN cards

Now it's laying around here collecting dust

If anyone nows how to bring it to live again with perhaps a new firmware please let me now?

    Thx in adv.

I don't have one of these but i think it's possible to open channels using keys and/or doing CSharing. It still opens fta SD channels. If you ****** you can find something.

      still useful to this decoder.
most certainly does amazing things, but with the proper tools that you find in the forums, you can still have fun.

I also read somewhere that it is possible to use the 5400 with cardsharing
(client mode only) what do you think about that

Well seeing as the 5400 has no ethernet port then that would be impossible unless someone has adapted the RS232 port to somehow accept the CS information.

Great stb in its day, but things have moved on since then.
Still use it for fta or keys, but that's about it.

You can use cs with it but need permanent connection with a pc. I never had much success without a lot of trouble but free to air or anything with codes is good.
Realy nice box but getting a bit old now. Still well suported.

There are people who even use a Card-to-Ethernet or RS232-to-Ethernet adapters for cardcharing on this receiver

yes sure, there are programs suitable for making cs but only with RS232 serial cable and internet uninterrupted

is not possible with ethernet cable

As I have read it is possible with an Ethernet cable by using the Linkey Cardshare Box or the Cardlink Cardshare cliënt

They have edit my post and remove the pictures I have posted.
                        Are pictures not alowed?

Here are links to the pictures and I hope thats okay!?

but how do you connect the decoder to Linkey Cardshare Box?

note that the slot for smartcard is only in special coding

I confess that I never used that system, I only use serial cable

Just put the card of the Linkey in the decoder.
I believe setup can be done via webinterface or usb cable.
