    Spiderbox 7000HD

    Hi Guys,

My Spiderbox keeps restarting every so often, I have updated it to the latest firmware and still no luck resolving it.

    Anyone else experienced this?

    Hi mrhotdoguk,

It is a common problem amongst spiderbox 7000 hd boxes. There is a recovery tool which can help you. You can download it, just search for "spiderbox 7000 hd recovery tool". You will find the instructions, too.
    Good luck.

I hope my post was useful to you.

    regards,

      Hi bakfitty,

Thanks for that, is it a 9 Pin RS232 Female to Female cable that is needed?

Yes, you are right. The 9 pin female to female rs232 cable will do the work. Just connect your pc with your receiver by using that type of cable, run the recovery tool on your pc and follow what the instructions say.

It needs to be a Null modem cable ie. reversed connections, a standard cable will not work
You should also try to run this on a computer running Windows XP. You should also make sure that there is a good
airflow around the Stb when in use. not in a cabinet of any sort.

Mobely3 is quite right you need a null cable or it will not read, but why did you update your spider there have been no updates for a couple of years.

I have had the same problem with my spider box and it was because the box was getting to hot in a tv cabinet with other boxes i have left the door open so a flow of air can get in and have no problem since

I have ran the recovery tool 3 times and it still restarts, it isn't all the time but when it does do it, it will do three or four times in a row.

I am running the latest version from a few years back.

If you are sure it is not over heating you could try the lnb f connecter connections make sure they are all all ok cut them back and make new connection if this still does not work you may have a problem with the power supply

Does it happen on any particular channel? or on HD channels and not on SD?
what channel list are you using?

At first I was convinced it was on HD only but it does it on SD channels as well.

I mainly only use it for S*Y SP*RTS.

I am using William1 Channel list.

The william1 channel list is very good and is updated all the time you could try Billybits channel list and see if it makes any diffrence

Is there any possibility that you suffer from power surges on the mains?
If you are not using a surge protection power source I suggest you get one,
while it may not sort out your problem it certainly will protect damage to your Stb.

                            regards mobley3

I would think if he's tried all the above advice and still no luck it is starting to point to a faulty power supply.
